A Planted Technology seat bracket for the BMW X1, second generation on the F48 chassis, 2015 onwards. Part number SB278.

The generation that changed drivetrain entirely

This is the important thing to check. The first X1, the E84, is rear wheel drive based on the 3 Series platform. The F48 moved to BMW’s UKL front wheel drive architecture, shared with the Mini and the 2 Series Active Tourer.

They are completely different cars. If yours is a 2010 to 2015 X1, this is not your bracket. Check the chassis code rather than the model name.

What the swap gains you

An X1 is tall and the standard seat is built for comfort rather than cornering. A shell holds you in place and sits you lower, though in a car of this height you will still be higher than in a saloon.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Planted frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.
