The phone went on Tuesday and it was a chap after a set of LUKE FIA belts for his race car. He had been round the houses looking and had started to think they had stopped making them.
They have not. LUKE is part of Corbeau, and the competition belts now go out in a Corbeau box. Same belts, same people. So here is what we would put in your car in each class, what it costs, and one gap in the range worth knowing about before you order.

LUKE and Corbeau are the same range
If you have run LUKE belts for years and gone looking for a replacement, you have probably found Corbeau on the box and wondered whether yours are still made. They are. It is the same range under the Corbeau name.
You can see it in the products. The Corbeau Ultima Pro FIA harnesses list LUKE as the manufacturer and sit in our LUKE FIA category with everything else. The Caterham and Westfield belts were never rebadged at all, they still wear the LUKE name, because that is what people ask for on the phone.
Ask for either and you get the same belt. If your LUKE set has run out of date, the Corbeau equivalent is the direct replacement.
FIA six point: the Corbeau Ultima Pro
This is the competition belt. Four versions of the same harness, all FIA 8853-2016, all six point, all in stock. What separates them is the webbing width and how they are fitted, which is what the code on the end of the name is telling you.
Which one you want comes down to whether you run a HANS device and how the car is drilled for the shoulder straps. Cameron will want to know both before he lets an order go out, because the four look near enough identical in a photograph and only one of them is right for your car.

FIA four point, and the gap
There is no FIA approved four point in the Corbeau and LUKE range. The FIA belts are six point only, and the only other FIA item is a two point lap belt for historic cars.
If your class calls for a four point and it has to be FIA, we stock other brands that do one, so ring us with the regulation and we will sort it. If your class calls for a six point, which most circuit racing does, the Ultima Pro above is the answer.
And if the car has no regulations to satisfy, a road four point is what you actually want. Those are further down.
Road three point
A three point is the layout you already know from a road car: one shoulder strap, a lap belt, one buckle. On a classic or a road car it is the sensible choice when you want better belts without wrestling a full harness every time you get in.
The Corbeau three point retractable is the one that goes out most. It retracts like a factory belt, and Garreth’s view is that on a car you actually drive that is worth more than any amount of webbing. The LUKE Professional and the GHR are fixed webbing, and the AK 427 is cut for AC Cobra replicas.

Road four point
A four point gives you both shoulders and a proper lap belt, and it is where most track day cars end up. You need somewhere sound to mount the shoulder straps, which means a harness bar or eye bolts into the floor at the right height and angle. Sort that out before you buy the belts, not after.
The GHR is the value one and it does the job. The Professional is the one Garreth would put in his own car, and the Pro-Lite is the same belt with lighter hardware if you are counting grams.

Caterham, Westfield and the specialist belts
This is the part of the range that kept the LUKE name, and it is why people still ring up asking for LUKE by name. These are belts cut for a specific car, so the strap lengths and the fittings suit it out of the box with no messing.
On the Caterham and Westfield belts the numbers are the webbing widths, shoulder then lap. The 75mm sets are wider and hold you better, the 50mm sets suit a tight cockpit.

What we would put in your car
If you compete, the Corbeau Ultima Pro six point. Tell Cameron whether you run an FHR and how the car is drilled and he will pick the version. That is the whole decision.
If it is a road car and you want better belts without starting a project, the Corbeau three point retractable at £111.00. If it is a track day car with a bar behind the seat, the LUKE Professional four point at £162.00. And if you have a Caterham or a Westfield, buy the belt cut for it and save yourself an afternoon of trimming and swearing.
The bit worth repeating, because it is why the phone rang: if your LUKE belts are out of date, the Corbeau set is the same belt from the same people. You are not changing brands.

Common questions
Is LUKE the same as Corbeau?
Yes, they are one range. The Corbeau Ultima Pro FIA harnesses list LUKE as the manufacturer, and the Caterham, Westfield, historic and off-road belts still carry the LUKE name on the product. Ask for either and you will get the same belt.
My LUKE harness is out of date. What do I replace it with?
The Corbeau Ultima Pro six point if you compete, or the equivalent road belt from the tables above. It is a direct replacement, not a change of brand. Send us a photo of the label on your old set if you want us to match it exactly.
Do you do an FIA approved four point?
Not in the Corbeau and LUKE range. The FIA belts here are six point only. We do stock FIA four points from other brands, so ring us with what your class regulations ask for and we will sort it.
What is the difference between the four Ultima Pro versions?
They are different webbing and fitting configurations of the same FIA 8853-2016 six point harness. Which one suits you depends on whether you run a HANS device and how the car is drilled for the shoulder straps. Tell us both and we will pick it.
Should I buy 70mm or 44mm shoulder straps?
A 70mm strap works with or without a HANS device. A 44mm strap is restricted under the FIA standard to use WITH a device and is labelled accordingly, so it is not simply a slimmer option. If you do not run an FHR, you want 70mm.
Can I fit a four point to a car with no roll bar?
You need somewhere sound to mount the shoulder straps, at the right height and angle. On a lot of road cars that means a harness bar, eye bolts into the floor, or a bolt-in cage. Send us photos of the back of your seats and we will tell you what you have to work with.
