A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Infiniti Q60, first generation, 2013 to 2016. Part number SB281.

It is not really a first generation at all

This is the G37 coupe, renamed when Infiniti reorganised their model names in 2013. The car underneath is the V36, unchanged. The genuinely new Q60 from 2017 takes SB378 and is a different vehicle entirely.

So a 2016 Q60 and a 2017 Q60 are unrelated cars wearing the same badge. That is the single most confusing thing in this part of the range, and it is why the year alone will not identify your car. Send us the registration.

What it shares

The V36 platform, which also carries the G35 and G37 under SB331 and which is closely related to the 370Z. The VQ37VHR is a strong engine that responds well to work, and the parts knowledge crosses over from the Z, which is useful because there is far more of it.

The IPL version

Infiniti’s performance division built an IPL Q60 with a little more power, firmer damping and a bodykit. It was a mild effort by the standards of BMW M or Mercedes AMG, and the chassis was always the better part of the car than the engine.

Which is rather the point for a seat swap. A V36 coupe carries good speed and gives you a lot of grip, and the standard seat is built for comfortable touring rather than for holding you against it.

Practical

Side airbags, occupancy sensing and powered adjustment throughout, with heating on most. Tell us the specification before anything comes out.
