The first turbocharged M5
BMW replaced the E60’s V10 with a twin turbo V8 for the F10, which made it enormously faster in the real world and, to a lot of people, less special. It is around two tonnes and makes something close to 550 horsepower in standard form.
Nobody fits a competition shell to one for weight. What changes is that you stop sliding about, which in a car generating this much grip happens sooner than the interior suggests.
The seats are the complicated part
Powered adjustment in several planes, memory, heating, ventilation on some, side airbags, occupancy sensing, and active bolsters that inflate as the car corners. Removing one is a proper job and the car will complain if it is done badly.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Planted frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
