A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Chevrolet Cobalt, 2005 to 2010. Part number SB225.

The Cobalt SS is what this is for, and there were three of them: a supercharged version, then a turbocharged one, and a naturally aspirated middle option. The turbo cars are quick and cheap and have a serious following in American club racing.

The car it shares with

General Motors built the Chevrolet HHR on the same platform, and the HHR SS uses the same turbocharged Ecotec. Different body, different bracket, same running gear, which is useful when you are hunting for mechanical parts.

Why the seat goes early on these

The SS versions came with a limited slip differential and a chassis that will carry real speed, and the standard seat was designed for a cheap compact saloon. That mismatch shows up in the first proper corner. Once a harness goes in it gets worse, because the harness is holding you to a seat that is itself moving.
