A Planted Technology seat bracket for the BMW 3 Series saloon on the E46 chassis, 1999 to 2005. Part number SB121.

Saloon is the qualifier. The E36 coupe takes SB006 and the E36 saloon takes SB108, so both the chassis code and the body style decide the part.

Why the E46 is the car it is

It is one of the most used cars in club motorsport in this country. Cheap to buy, good enough to be worth building, and supported by an aftermarket that will sell you anything. The M3 in particular is quick enough that the standard seat is the first thing to become a limitation, even the sports seat.

Check the floor before you spend

This matters more on an E46 than on most cars, because the rear subframe mounting problem these are known for means a great many have had structural work. If the car has been repaired, look at what was done around the seat area with the carpet up. A bracket can only feed seat load into sound structure.
