Two quite different buyers
Race transporters and support vehicles, where the crew are sat in them for long motorway runs and a supportive seat is genuinely more comfortable than the standard van item over four hours. And camper conversions, where the standard seat is bulky and a shell frees up floor space.
Both want comfort over lateral support, which is the opposite of a track car.
So buy for hours, not laps
A hard competition shell is the wrong tool for a van. Ask us about the more heavily padded options, or a reclining seat rather than a fixed bucket. In a camper a reclining seat also earns its keep when the van is parked.
One practical note
Sprinter cabs are narrower than they look once a shell goes in, and the seat has to clear the door and the engine cover. Tell us your height and what the van is for and we will check it rather than have you find out on the day.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Planted frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.
