It is a Discovery, not a Range Rover

Worth stating plainly because the name misleads. The first Range Rover Sport is built on the Discovery 3 and 4 platform with its integrated body frame construction, not on the full size Range Rover. Land Rover were fairly open about it at the time and people still assume otherwise.

That means Discovery parts and knowledge cross over, which is useful.

What the seat change is for

Support rather than height. The commanding position is a large part of why you have one. The standard seat is large and soft and lets you move about, which on rough ground over a long day is what tires you.

The electronics are substantial

Powered adjustment in several planes, memory, heating, side airbags and occupancy sensing. Tell us the specification before you order anything, and expect a wiring job as much as a mechanical one.
