The Xterra shares its frame with the Frontier and the Pathfinder of the period, and Nissan kept it as a proper ladder chassis vehicle long after most of the class had gone to monocoques. The Pro-4X with the rear locker is the one built for going off road properly.

If you have a D40 Frontier, which is the Navara here, that takes SB407 and shares a great deal mechanically.

Trim first

If it sees dust, mud and water, ask us about neoprene rather than velour. Fabric absorbs everything and never really recovers.
