A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Mazda 3, fourth generation on the BP chassis, 2019 onwards. Part number SB404.

The current car. The third generation takes SB264 and an earlier listing takes SB260.

The torsion beam decision

Worth knowing, because it caused a great deal of argument. Mazda replaced the third generation’s multi link rear suspension with a torsion beam for this car and were criticised heavily for it. Their argument was that it gave better control of body motion; the enthusiast response was less charitable.

Whatever you make of that, it means a BP Mazda 3 behaves differently at the rear from the car before it, and the driver who can feel that is the one who gets the most out of it.

The turbo

Mazda did offer a 2.5 turbo in this generation in some markets, which is the version worth building.
