A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Ford Crown Victoria, 1998 to 2012. Part number SB202.
Fifteen years on one bracket, because Ford had no commercial reason to change anything on a car sold almost entirely to police forces and taxi fleets.
Body on frame, and the last of them
The Panther platform is a separate chassis with a body bolted on top, rear wheel drive, with a live axle. Ford built it until 2011 and nothing has replaced it. That construction is why they are indestructible and why police forces kept buying them long after the rest of the industry had moved on.
What you are likely buying
A retired police car, and they arrive stripped about with holes drilled for equipment and a driver’s seat destroyed by a decade of shift work and duty belts. Look properly at what is actually under the carpet rather than assuming a standard interior, and send us a photograph if anything looks unusual.
Buy for hours
If the car does long days, ask us about padded or reclining options rather than a racing shell.
Later cars have side airbags. Tell us the year.
