A Planted Technology seat bracket for the BMW Z3 coupe and M Coupe, 1996 to 2002. Part number SB008.

The Z4 and its M versions take SB126, so check the generation.

The clown shoe

BMW built the Z3 coupe because a few engineers wanted to, and it looks like nothing else on the road. The M Coupe with the S50 or S54 straight six is the one people want and values have gone a long way.

The coupe body also fixed the Z3 roadster’s biggest problem, which was a lack of torsional stiffness. The hatchback shape roughly tripled it, which is why the coupe drives so much better.

What that means for the seat

A stiff shell transmits what the car is doing rather than absorbing it, and you feel more through the seat than you would in the roadster. Getting held properly is worth more here as a result.
