A Planted Technology low seat bracket for the Mazda MX-5 on the NA chassis, 1989 to 1997. Part number SB245.

The low version. The standard height is SB101.

Why low is the usual answer in an NA

The NA is small inside and the standard position is high relative to the screen. Put a helmet on and you are against the header rail immediately, and if the car has a roll bar the problem gets worse rather than better.

Anyone over about five foot ten will want this one. It also improves how you sit relative to the wheel, which on a car with such direct steering is worth having.

Weight is the point of the car

An NA is around 950kg and that is the entire basis of how it drives. A heavy steel framed shell gives back a real proportion of it, so ask us about the lighter GRP and composite options before defaulting to the cheapest steel seat.

Practical

NAs rust round the sills and floors. Get the carpet up and look properly before you spend, and expect to find more than you hoped.
