Vauxhall Astra Mk5 (including VXR) bucket seat guide

Two fitting frames are confirmed for the 3-door Astra Mk5: one from Sparco and one from OMP. This generation includes the VXR, and Custom Cages, Safety Devices, SW Motorsports and JP all build roll cages specifically for it, so a proper VXR track build is well supported.
Both frames bolt to the same floor mounting points. From there the seat you choose decides whether side mounts get added.

The fitting frame
Sparco confirm a direct fit subframe for the 3-door Astra Mk5 at £111.00. OMP offer their own at £144.90, also confirmed for this generation. Both bolt to the factory floor mounting points. Most bucket seats on this page are side mount, so a set of side mounts on top of either frame is the usual route.

FIA competition bucket seats
Every seat here carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. The Sparco Sprint at £252.00 and the OMP TRS-E XL Velour at £279.00 are the cheapest options. The Mirco RTS-2 Velour at £349 and the OMP WRC-R at £438 sit further up, and the Sparco Evo L QRT at £612.00 sits at the top of the range.

Reclining sport seats
The Sparco R100 and R100 Vinyl at £235 are the entry point, sitting on the standard Sparco bolt pattern. The OMP RTS at £456.00 and the Sparco R333 at £449.47 sit further up. Two Corbeau pairs, the SVR Vinyl and the Sportline RRS, work out around half their pair price per seat.

Harnesses
There is no harness made specifically for the Astra Mk5, so you are fitting a universal belt and working out the mounting yourself. The standard rear seat belt mounts are not rated for harness shoulder strap loads, so one of the cages below, a bolt-in harness bar, or a fabricated anchor point is needed.
The Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 and the TRS Magnum 6 Point Superlite at £294.00 are both FIA 8853-2016. The TRS Magnum 4 Point at £139 is FIA 8854-1998. All three carry a stamped expiry date regardless of wear. For a road or trackday car, the Takata Drift II and III and the TRS Clubman belts cost less, though none of those four are HANS compatible.

Roll cages
Custom Cages build three variants specifically for the VXR 2006/7 Mk5: a 6 point National Spec CDS kit at £889.20 a Multipoint CDS kit at £1,311.00 and a Multipoint T45 kit at £1,818.30. SW Motorsports offer a Bolt In Half Roll Cage at £667.00, Safety Devices list a Bolt-In Roll Rear Cage at £603.60 and the JP Half Cage at £553.20 is the budget entry point.
If competing, check the specification against your class regulations before ordering, and keep the sign-off paperwork with the logbook. Pad any tube within reach of a helmet, and tell your insurer, because a cage is a notifiable modification.
