Tillett Carbon Seat Unboxed In-Store
Bucket seat news, August 2022
A carbon Tillett B6 XL Screamer has just come through our showroom. It is a special order seat for a customer, so it came in, was unboxed and checked over, and is now on its way out again. Tillett seats are made to order for us, so we like to photograph them when they pass through.
The XL is the wide version of the B6 Screamer, with generous room inside for bigger drivers. Here is what the seat is, and what else has changed in our Tillett range this year.
- Seat unboxed: Tillett B6 XL Screamer in carbon and GRP
- Approved to FIA 8855-1999
- Tillett quote 5.8 to 6.1 kg across the Screamer range
- Takes a 6 point harness and mounts by side mounts
- Tillett seats are special order items for us
- Our Tillett listings now include coloured logo options and matching fitting kits

What is on this page
The B6 XL Screamer we unboxed
The seat is a Tillett B6 XL Screamer with a carbon and GRP shell. It is approved to FIA 8855-1999, so it can be used in competition where the rules ask for that standard. As always, check your own championship’s regulations before you buy.
The Screamer replaced the popular B6F. Tillett describe it as lighter and stronger than the seat it replaced, thanks to a new moulding process, and they quote 5.8 to 6.1 kg across the Screamer range, with some variation from one build to the next. The back of the shell is more compact, which helps in a tight cockpit or a car with a roll cage close behind the seat, and the belt holes sit higher to suit taller drivers.
The XL shell is the one for drivers who need more width. With the rolled edges cut off it measures 43 cm inside, and 47 cm with them left on. Both versions sit within the FIA approval. The standard B6 Screamer is 40 cm, so if that fits, it is the one to order.
It takes a 6 point harness and fits on side mounts. A headrest cushion is included, and Dinamica faux suede panels are an option. Tillett also say the Screamer can be used without padding by many drivers, which helps anyone trying to sit lower in the car.

Our updated Tillett range
We have also been through our whole Tillett range on the site. Coloured logos can now be chosen on every Tillett seat, and each listing has fuller information on weight, use and design, with suitable bundle items at the checkout.
The fitting side has been improved too. Tillett side mounts are made to suit particular Tillett seats, and we have now paired the right side mounts and sliding runner kits with the right seats, so the seat and fitting kit you order are made to go together. The runners let the seat slide back and forward to set your driving position.

New for 2022: the Tillett B8
Tillett’s new B8 has joined the range this year, in a fibreglass version and a carbon and GRP version for drivers who want to save more weight. It holds the driver at an angle that suits regular production sports cars, so it works on the road and on track.
It is built with Tillett’s twin skin construction, which keeps it light and compact, and it is a good choice for taller drivers who want to sit lower. Tillett say drivers up to around 120 kg are well supported in the B8 with little or no padding. Unlike the Screamer, the B8 is a road and track seat, not an FIA approved one.
Pair any of these seats with a proper harness. Our guides to base mounts and side mounts and choosing a Tillett for a Caterham or Westfield go further into fitting. Garreth’s advice is to send us your height and waist size before ordering, because Tillett seats are made to order.
