The B6 Screamer is the FIA-homologated version of Tillett’s B6 shell. The shape is the same compact, upright profile built for track cars and low road cars, but it carries FIA 8855-1999 approval where the standard B6 does not. If your class regulations require a homologated seat, the Screamer is the seat to order. It also sets the reference angle for HANS device use at 30 degrees.
Construction on this version is carbon and GRP, SKU B6S-4-C. Tillett build each shell to a weight range of 5.8 to 6.1 kg, with variations of up to 10 per cent between shells. Rolled edges add 4 cm to the outside dimension, so the seat measures 40 cm wide without them and 44 cm wide with them on. Both widths are covered within the FIA 8855-1999 homologation, which means you are not restricted to one edge cut or the other when buying.
The Screamer takes a 6-point harness and mounts by side mount only. There is no base mount fitting on the Screamer shell.
Against the rest of the Tillett range: the standard B6 in carbon and GRP gives you the same shell for less without the FIA ticket. If the regulations you compete under do not require homologation, the standard B6 is the sensible option. If they do, this is the seat. The B6 Screamer XL is the wider version, running 43 cm without rolled edges and 47 cm with them on, at the same price. The only difference between standard and XL Screamers is the interior width.
The B7 Epoxy carries the same FIA 8855-1999 approval and is lighter at 3.8 kg, but costs roughly three times as much. That weight saving is worth the price for some applications. For most club racing classes, the B6 Screamer is the practical choice.
Headrest cushion and Dinamica faux suede panels available as options.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Tillett B6 Screamer Seat On Display In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. The paper dimensions only tell half the story, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so you get the honest answer rather than a guess from a chart.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
