Within the SB028 family, alongside the Golf Mk2. The two cars share a floorpan, which is why one design covers both.

The Jetta sold where the Golf did not

In North America the Mk2 Jetta substantially outsold the hatchback and got specifications the Golf never had. In Europe it was the other way round, which is why Jettas are the rarer of the two here.

Why Mk2s are worth building

Simple, light, well built for the period, and with an enormous aftermarket behind them. The 16v cars are the ones with the following and values have moved a long way after decades of being cheap.
