A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Mazda MX-5 on the NB chassis, 1998 to 2005. Part number SB109.

The standard height version. The low version is SB255, and on an NB that choice matters.

Which height you want

An NB is small inside and the standard position is high relative to the screen. Anyone tall, anyone in a helmet, and anyone running a roll bar will want the low bracket. This standard height suits a shorter driver or a road car where you want to keep the eye line you are used to.

What the NB changed

The pop up headlights went, the shell got stiffer, and the later cars gained a six speed gearbox and a limited slip differential on some specifications. It is the more usable of the two early MX-5s and still light.

Practical

NBs rust round the sills and floors in the same places NAs do. Get the carpet up and look properly before you spend.
