A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Mazda MX-5 on the NC chassis, 2006 to 2015. Part number SB110.

The third generation. The NB takes SB109 and the ND takes SB248.

The NC is the roomy one

Which is genuinely useful and rarely said. Mazda made the third generation larger than the NA and NB, and considerably larger than the ND that followed, because they went back to the original size for the fourth generation.

So if you are tall and have struggled to fit into other MX-5s, the NC is the one where you have a chance. Headroom and shoulder room are both better, and shell choice is less constrained as a result.

What it shares

The NC borrowed from the RX-8 platform, which is why it is heavier than the cars either side of it and why it feels more substantial to drive.

The PRHT versions have a folding hard top that eats space behind the seats, so tell us which body you have.
