The S550, and the reason it takes its own bracket rather than sharing with the S197 is the biggest change Ford made to the car in fifty years: independent rear suspension. The whole rear floor structure is different.
What that changes for a driver
An S550 puts its power down properly and carries far more speed through a corner than the live axle cars did. That raises the cornering loads on you, which is exactly when a standard seat starts letting you slide, and it is why so many of these end up with a shell in them despite being relatively new cars.
Check what seats yours already has
Ford offered Recaros across much of this generation and they came as standard on some versions. If your car has them, tell us what you are trying to achieve first. They are good seats and they are worth money, and there are owners who would do better keeping them and spending on the harness and cage instead.
Before anything comes out
The factory seats carry side airbags, occupancy sensing and powered adjustment, and heating on many. Tell us the specification and we will work through it with you.

This frame is made for the Ford Mustang (2015+). Chassis code and years matter more than the badge, as floor pans change between generations, so if your car sits near a changeover year, send us the registration and we will confirm before you order.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Planted frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.
