A Planted Technology seat bracket for the Chevrolet Chevelle, 1964 to 1967. Part number SB158.

The 1968 to 1972 cars take SB224.

The first generation is the underrated one

Everybody chases the 1970 LS6, so the earlier cars have always been cheaper. The 1965 Z16 SS 396 is the rare one here, with around 200 built, and it is the car that established the Chevelle as a serious muscle car in the first place.

It shares a floor with a family of General Motors A-body cars of the period, including the Buick Skylark and the Oldsmobile Cutlass, though each takes its own part number here.

Reversible on a car worth this much

The bracket picks up the factory mounting points so nothing is cut. Store the original seats and every fixing somewhere dry and label them.

Practical

Sixty years old and repair panels are common. Get the carpet up and look before you spend.

Do I keep fore-and-aft adjustment?
Only with a sliding runner between the frame and the seat, which is a separate part on Planted frames. If more than one person drives the car, budget for the runner. Our guide to sliding runners explains the options and widths.

Both sides are available on this listing, pick driver or passenger side at the point of order (sides listed are for right-hand-drive cars). Left-hand-drive car? Ask us, as the sides swap over and availability varies by model.
