Porsche 911 997 bucket seat guide

2004 to 2012

The 997, 2004 to 2012, refined the 996 with round headlights and a sharper chassis, and remains one of the most track-focused 911 generations to own. OMP, Cobra and Planted all offer direct-fit mounting, and the competition seat range runs to the Recaro Pole Position Carbon with ABE.

Harnesses

Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.

The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £96.00 and 4-point clip-in at £120.00 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £246.00 and the Takata Drift II at £274.80 are the step up.

For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £294.00 the Takata Drift III at £324.00 and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £444.01 all suit a caged 997 going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions

Yes. Safety Devices build several further door bar and USA-spec configurations shared between the 996 and 997. Contact us if you need a specific variant.

The OMP Direct Fit Subframes at £110.81 are the practical choice. Cobra and Planted options are also confirmed for the 997.

No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first.

A competition bucket holds you better through a corner but is harder to live with day to day. A reclining seat keeps more factory comfort while still improving on the standard seat.
