Mounting
The Cybul NA/NB Bucket Seat Mounts at £94.80 cover both generations together. The Endurance Motorsport JB Adjustable Side Mounts are chassis-specific: Mk1 at £44.50 or Mk2 at £44.50. The Planted Technology bracket at £222.60 is confirmed for the NB chassis, 1998 to 2005.
The Cobra H Frame Subframes at £52.80 the Endurance Motorsport Multi Point M8 Side Mount Brackets at £46.80 and the Sparco Seat Sliding Runner Kit at £41.94 give further fixing options.

The OMP TRS-E Velour at £239.40, TRS-E Sky at £291.60 and TR-S Legend at £297.60 sit alongside, with the Sparco Sprint FIA at £252.00 and Sprint Sky FIA at £252.
The OMP Champ-R at £381.60 First R at £294, and ARS-R at £513.60 are lighter fibreglass options. The Sparco Rev QRT at £414.00 and Evo QRT at £570.00 step up further. The OMP TRS-E Velour at £239.40 is the practical FIA-rated starting point for a track day car. If you want a lighter fibreglass shell, the OMP Champ-R at £381.60 is well judged for the money. For an MX-5 built properly for competition, the Cobra Nogaro Circuit at £819.00 or the Recaro Pole Position at £995.40 give the strongest support through fast corners.
Reclining sport seats

Roll cage
The Custom Cages Multipoint T45 Roll Cage Kit at £1395 is FIA Approved and MSUK Compliant, confirmed for both the Mk1 and Mk2. For a Mk1-specific rear cage, the Safety Devices Bolt-In Rear Roll Cage at £376.26 is the lighter option if you do not need the full multipoint kit.

The Custom Cages Multipoint T45 kit at £1395 is the step up for a car built properly for competition, and is the only option here confirmed for the Mk2 as well.
Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
TRS make two harnesses built specifically for the MX-5 Mk1/Mk2 fitting: the 4 Point at £102.00 and the Magnum 4 Point FIA at £214.80 a better match than a universal harness.
For other configurations, the TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £96.00 and 4-point clip-in at £120.00 use the standard seat belt anchor points. Common questions
How do I know if I have the Mk1 or Mk2?
The Mk1 (NA), 1989 to 1997, has pop-up headlights. The Mk2 (NB), 1998 to 2005, has fixed headlights. Send us the registration if you are not sure.
Does the roll cage fit both generations?
The Custom Cages Multipoint T45 kit is confirmed for both the Mk1 and Mk2. The Safety Devices rear cage is Mk1 only.
Should I use the MX-5-specific harness or a universal one?
The MX-5-specific TRS harnesses are the better match where the point count suits your build. For 6-point, no MX-5-specific option exists here, so the universal FIA range is the route.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first.
