Ford Fiesta Mk8 bucket seat guide
2017/2018 onwards, current shape, including ST
This is the current-shape Fiesta, launched from 2017 onwards, including the ST. Fitting frame choice is narrower here than on the older generations covered elsewhere in this series, since fewer brands have tooled up parts for a platform this recent. That is a genuine reflection of where the aftermarket is right now, not a gap in what we stock.
Two brands currently list a direct-fit sub-frame for this generation: SW Motorsport and Cobra. Both cover the current-shape car specifically.
This guide covers those fitting frames, a full range of competition and reclining sport seats suited to the ST, and the MSUK-approved roll cage built for this car.

Mounting
The SW Motorsport direct-fit sub-frame (243714) at £112.41 covers the Mk8 from 2019 onwards, bolting to the factory floor mounting points in place of the standard seat runners. The Cobra direct-fit sub-frame (252102) at £212.50 covers the car from 2018 onwards, the Cobra-specific option if you are running a Cobra seat.
Both frames bolt to the factory mounting points, so no drilling is needed on a standard floor. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance once the seat is in, since a bucket seat often sits the buckle somewhere new. If you need fore-aft adjustment, a slider can be fitted between the frame and the seat.

Competition bucket seats
Most seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval. The Sparco Sprint at £210 and Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 are dual-mount options at a similar price, the Cobra offering a steel shell. The OMP Champ-R at £318 and Mirco RTS-2 3D at £334 are lighter fibreglass alternatives, both side mount.
The OMP ARS-R at £428, Sabelt GT3 at £431, Mirco RS2 3D at £354.50 and Sparco Evo L QRT at £510 sit at the upper end, all suited to an ST built for regular track use.

For a track day car, the OMP Champ-R at £318 is a lighter FIA-rated fibreglass option. If the car sees contact, the Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 trades some weight for a steel shell. For an ST built properly for circuit work, the Sparco Evo L QRT at £510 gives strong support through fast corners. Reclining sport seats
Reclining sport seats are base mount, fitting either sub-frame above. The Auto Style Type BS5 at £295 is the accessible starting point. The Sparco range covers most of the mid-market: R100 Vinyl at £235, R100 Martini Racing at £291.66, R500 Fabric at £274.16, R500 Sky at £290.83, and the GT at £421.58 for a step up in finish.
The OMP RTS at £380 is the OMP recliner option here. At the top of the range, the Cobra Misano Anniversary Spec 2 at £1374.17 is a premium reclining seat suited to a Fiesta getting a full interior rebuild.

Roll cage
The SW Motorsports full bolt-in roll cage (196872) at £1120 is MSUK approved and built using 3D scanning technology for a tight, accurate fit. Tubes come pre-notched with engineering drawings and a dimension sheet included, and weld-in cage foot plates are CNC laser cut and formed. Available in a choice of colours, with an option for gussets in the rear cross brace.

Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 all suit a caged Fiesta Mk8 going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions
Why is the sub-frame range narrower than on older Fiesta generations?
This is a genuinely newer platform, so fewer brands have tooled up direct-fit frames for it yet. SW Motorsport and Cobra both list one, and that is the current state of the market rather than a gap in what we stock.
Does the sub-frame lower the seating position?
Most fitting frames sit the seat lower than the standard seat and runners. Exactly how much depends on the seat and whether you run side mounts or bottom mounts.
Can I keep the standard seat belt?
Usually yes, though the buckle position often changes once a bucket seat and frame are fitted. Check the buckle sits where you can reach it and is not fouled by the seat before driving the car.
Is the roll cage suitable for competition?
Yes, it is MSUK approved and built to a tight fit using 3D-scanned tube dimensions specific to this car.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
