There is more seat choice for a C4 than for anything else in this batch. Nineteen shells fit it, from a two hundred pound recliner up to a proper FIA competition seat, and that is a nice problem to have.
What people get wrong on this car is not the seat. It is the bit underneath. The C4 is base mount only, which means a fixed back competition shell needs three things and not one: the direct fit frame that bolts to the floor, the seat itself, and a pair of side mount brackets to join them together. Nobody puts that on the product page and it is the commonest reason a C4 order comes back for a second parcel.
So work out the mounting first and then enjoy the seat choice. It is the right way round and it saves a phone call.

The frames, and the bit people forget
OMP and Recaro both catalogue a direct fit sub frame for the C4, and both are base mount. They bolt into the standard seat mounting points and sit the seat lower than standard. There is no sliding sub frame for this car, so the fore and aft adjustment goes with the standard seat and the position is set once.
Now the part that catches people. A base mount frame is a platform, not a seat mount. A reclining seat with its own steel subframe bolts straight down onto it and you are finished. A fixed back competition shell does not, because a competition shell has no bottom, only two sides with holes in them. It needs a pair of side mount brackets to bridge from the shell down to the frame.
Those brackets are a separate part, they are not in the box with the seat, and they are not in the box with the frame. Budget for them from the start and the whole job goes smoothly. Tell us which shell you are buying and we will put the right pair with it.

Fixed back competition seats
Seven shells, all FIA approved, all needing side mounts onto the frame.
The Sparco Circuit QRT is the one worth knowing about if you are slim, because it is listed at a 28in to 32in waist and everything else here starts at 32in. At the other end the Sparco Evo L QRT is the large version of the Evo and the roomiest thing on the page.
The three Mirco shells are the value FIA options and the RS2 Velour and RTX-7 Velour are both listed for all driver heights, which the fibreglass shells generally are not. The OMP WRC-R and Champ-R are the rally pedigree end of it.

Reclining and dual fitment seats
Two of these mount either way. The Sparco Pro 2000 QRT carries FIA 8855-1999, is listed for all driver heights and mounts base or side, which makes it the seat to look at if you want approval without committing to side mounts. The Cobra Monaco Pro is the other one.
The recliners keep the C4 usable, which most of them still are. The two Corbeau Sportline pairs are listed to a 38in waist and for all heights and come as a matched pair, which is the tidy answer if you are doing both sides. The Cobra Daytona is the nicest of them and the Sparco R333 the sportiest.

The Sparco Pro 2000 QRT is FIA approved, fits all driver heights and mounts either way, so it works on the frame with or without side mounts. Harnesses
The standard belt is right on the road and works with every seat here. On circuit a harness is what holds you into the seat, and a bucket seat without one is doing a fraction of what it could.
On this car the anchor needs thinking about, because we do not catalogue a roll cage for a C4. That means a harness bar behind the front seats, at or above shoulder height. The rear seat mountings and the floor behind the seat are not anchors, whatever bolt holes are there, because that strap angle pulls down through your spine rather than holding you back against the seat.

Questions about fitting seats in a Citroen C4
Do I need side mounts as well as the frame?
For a fixed back competition shell, yes. The shell has no bottom, so it needs a pair of side mount brackets to bridge down to the base frame. They are a separate part from both the seat and the frame. For a reclining seat with its own steel base, the frame alone is enough.
Can I keep the seat adjustment?
No. Both catalogued frames are direct fit base mounts and there is no sliding sub frame for the C4. The seat position is set once when you fit it, so sit in the car and get it right before you tighten anything.
Which is the narrowest FIA approved seat?
The Sparco Circuit QRT at a 28in to 32in waist. Everything else approved on this page starts at 32in, so if you are slim that is where to look. If you want the roomiest instead, the Sparco Evo L QRT is the large shell.
Is there a roll cage for a C4?
