Sitting Too Low In A Clio Mk4? The Mounts That Put You Back Up
A bucket seat on direct fit side mounts sits as low as a Clio Mk4 will physically allow. Here are the two ways a seat mounts in one, and what both builds cost per side.

Most Defenders do real work. Long days, rough ground, the kind of driving where the seat is felt more than enjoyed. The factory seat is flat and wide for practical reasons. What it does not do is support you laterally, and when you are spending hours behind the wheel on a demanding route, the difference between a good recliner and the standard seat shows up in how tired you arrive.
Three brands make direct-fit frames for the Defender: Cobra, Corbeau, and Endurance Motorsport with their Sparco-pattern bracket. That gives the seat shortlist more range than most vehicles, because the Sparco route opens the Sparco range alongside the Cobra and Corbeau options. The five seats below come from all three routes.

The Defender floor carries enough variation across years and wheelbase lengths that aftermarket seats normally want a specific bracket rather than a generic subframe. The three brands below each approach it differently.
Cobra make a direct subframe (part SU-LR-DE) that bolts to the factory mounting points, carries the sliding runner as part of the kit, and is priced per seat. Corbeau take an adaption bar route, reusing the original Defender slider: the bars bolt to the floor, the original slider rail transfers across, and Corbeau seats go on top. Endurance Motorsport make a steel bracket that presents a Sparco-pattern top face; the seat bolts to that, no slider, a fixed-position install.
Part SU-LR-DE, £255 inc VAT a side. Runner included. Sold per seat. Bolts to factory floor points, all years of the Defender.
£294 inc VAT a side. Uses the original Defender slider rail. Corbeau seats only. Sold per seat.
£99 inc VAT a side. Sparco 345mm pattern. Pair listing (245834) at the same total price. Fixed-position mount, no slider.
Cobra seats run on a 291mm bolt pattern. Corbeau recliners are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so they fit on either the Cobra subframe or the Corbeau adaption bars. Sparco recliners use the 345mm pattern, which is exactly what the Endurance Motorsport bracket presents. Pick the seat first; the frame follows from that. If you want a Corbeau, you have two route choices. If you want a Cobra or a Sparco, you have one each.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Cobra subframe | Corbeau bars | Sparco bracket |

The Corbeau Sportline RRS Low Base Defender is the seat Corbeau have set up specifically for this vehicle. It pairs the RRS on a lower base with the Defender-specific sliders, arriving as one item that bolts up without a separate parts list. Cloth, leather or vinyl, black or white stitching, driver or passenger side chosen at order.
The low base matters in a Defender. The standard seat already sits the driver high relative to most cars, and a normal-base recliner on top of adaption bars pushes headroom to the limit on taller drivers. Keeping the base lower holds that in check. There is a customer Defender on the blog fitted with this exact seat if you want to see the result before ordering.
At 580mm across the shoulders, the Daytona is the widest recliner Cobra make, and that width is worth something in a vehicle driven the way most Defenders are. Work gear, a jacket, getting in and out throughout the day: the shoulder room is there. An orthopaedic backrest supports the full length of the spine, lumbar support works underneath it, and the side bolsters hold you when the ground goes uneven.
The Defender version comes with the brackets matched to the vehicle. Add the Cobra subframe at £255 a side (runner included) and the full single-seat installation cost is £1,030 inc VAT. The brackets are pre-sorted; the research side is handled.
The PSR pair at £558 is the cheapest way to properly re-seat both sides of a Defender in one go. It is the most-bought Corbeau pair we list. The seat holds you laterally, cleans easily, and does the job without adding cost that goes nowhere. Harness slots are in the backrest if you ever want a 4 point belt on track.
Both bolt patterns are drilled into the base, which gives you a choice of route. On the Cobra route, both seats go onto two subframes at £255 each (runner included each side), making the full driver-and-passenger re-seat £1,068 inc VAT all in. On the Corbeau route, the adaption bars (16190) at £294 a side use the original Defender slider, a slightly different fitting job but the same functional result.
The Heritage is the Le Mans with fluted centre panels and no logos. The standard Le Mans carries the Cobra branding on the side panels; the Heritage leaves those plain. In a cabin that has been retrimmed or restored, that distinction matters: the unbranded panels sit with classic-style trim without fighting it.
It is the same Le Mans shell and the same Defender bracket kit. The Cobra subframe route applies: subframe at £255 per side, runner included. At £750 inc VAT for seat and brackets, the meaningful choice is trim colour, nothing else.
The Sparco R100 is available for the Defender because the Endurance Motorsport bracket exists. The bracket bolts to the factory floor points and presents a Sparco 345mm face; the R100 bolts to that directly. At £99 inc VAT per bracket and £282 inc VAT for the seat, a single-side install comes to £381 all in, the lowest per-seat cost on this list.
The trade-off is that the position is fixed. There is no slider on the Endurance bracket. Get in, check the reach to the wheel, confirm the position before tightening. If you need to slide the seat between drivers, the Cobra or Corbeau routes both carry a slider. For drivers who set once and leave it, the R100 via the Endurance bracket is a clean Sparco install at £381 per side.
The Cobra subframe (14400) is the tidiest install because the runner is in the kit. Order seat and frame and the slide mechanism is handled. Both Cobra seats in this guide come with Defender-specific brackets, so the combination is: Defender-package seat (brackets included) plus Cobra subframe (runner included), nothing else to source.
The Corbeau adaption bars (16190) work differently. They use the slider rail from the original Defender seat, which means removing the original seat first and transferring the rail across. The result is the same slider as factory, which works well; the first installation is more involved than the Cobra route. The RRS Low Base Defender (17308) is the exception: it arrives with its own sliders included, so no adaption bars are needed separately.
The Endurance Motorsport bracket (16972) has no slider. The seat mounts to the bracket’s top face at Sparco spacing. Set the position carefully before tightening. The pair listing (245834) covers both sides at the same unit price as two singles.

Prices include VAT and were correct on 12 September 2026. Cobra and Corbeau Defender seat listings include vehicle-specific brackets. The Cobra subframe (14400) at £255 inc VAT per side is ordered separately and adds the runner. Where a weight says not published, the manufacturer does not give one and we will not guess it.
No. All three bracket types bolt to the factory seat mounting points. No drilling is needed on a standard floor. Torque the floor bolts to the manufacturer's spec and check the seat belt buckle position before driving, as a sport seat typically moves the buckle from where the standard seat left it.
Yes. The PSR base is drilled for both 291mm and 345mm patterns, so it goes on either frame. On the Cobra route (14400) the runner is part of the kit. On the Corbeau route (16190) the adaption bars use the original Defender slider. Both routes work; the Cobra is simpler at first installation because everything is in the one kit.
No. The Endurance bracket (16972) is a fixed-position mount. The seat bolts directly to the bracket's top face at the correct Sparco spacing. Set the position before tightening and confirm the reach to the wheel is right. If you need a sliding seat, the Cobra or Corbeau routes both include a slider as part of the frame kit.
The frames and brackets in this guide are for the classic Defender, all years up to 2016. The 2020 L663 is a completely different vehicle with a unibody floor and its own seat mounting geometry. None of these brackets are confirmed for the L663. If you have a 2020-onwards Defender, ask us and we will confirm what options exist for that platform.
Yes. A customer's Defender came in fitted with a pair of Corbeau RRS Low Base seats and the finished result is documented on the blog: Corbeau RRS Low Base Seats Fitted Into Our Customer's Land Rover Defender. Worth reading before you decide if the RRS interests you.
For most owners who want both seats done in one job: the Corbeau PSR pair on Cobra subframes. At £558 for the pair plus £255 per subframe (runner included each side), the full re-seat costs £1,068 inc VAT. Both seats hold you laterally, clean easily, and do not try to be something they are not.
If the budget covers one seat at a time: the Cobra Daytona Defender at £775 inc VAT with brackets. The shoulder width is the widest Cobra make, which suits the way most Defenders are used and the kind of people who drive them.
For the easiest single-seat order: the Corbeau RRS Low Base Defender at £768 including sliders. One product, one delivery, one installation. Cameron tends to reach for this one when someone wants a complete package without assembling a parts list.
If the interior is period-style or retrimmed and you want the seat to sit with it: the Le Mans Heritage at £750 with Defender brackets. The unbranded fluted panels work with classic trim without drawing attention.
For the lowest per-seat cost with a proper Sparco recliner: the R100 on the Endurance bracket at £381 all in per side. Fixed position, but a proper sport seat at a price nothing else on this list gets near.
