Thirteen years and almost no change

Which tells you how little Chrysler invested in it. The first generation Ram was already old when it launched, being a lightly revised version of the truck that came before, and Dodge left it alone until the dramatic 1994 redesign transformed their fortunes.

That neglect is why they are cheap and why the ones left are either working or being built as projects.

Dodge fitted the 12 valve Cummins from 1989, which is the engine that saved the model line and which people still seek out specifically. If yours is a 12 valve, you have the version worth spending money on.

What you are actually buying
