Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Ferrari 360, including our fitting guide

Book a track day in a 360 and the seats are usually the first thing to remind you the car is over twenty years old. Ferrari built the chassis around an aluminium spaceframe to keep weight down everywhere it could, then hung a pair of factory seats on it that do nothing for the driver once the car is actually being driven hard. They hold you well enough in traffic. Push the mid-engine balance through a fast corner and you are bracing against the door card instead of the seat.

Most 360 owners who come to us are after one of two things: a seat that keeps you in place when the car finally gets to do what it was built for, or simply something that has not gone soft and baggy after two decades. Either way, the answer is a base-mount recliner on a frame built for this chassis.

  • Two frame routes in stock for the Ferrari 360: Cobra Seats and Planted Technology
  • Cobra frames take 291mm pattern seats, Planted takes any pattern with matching runners
  • Every seat in this guide is listed as 4 point harness compatible
  • Both routes bolt to the factory mounting points, no drilling on a standard floor

The Ferrari 360. The frame you pick decides which of the five seats below can go in it.

The two frame routes into a Ferrari 360

We stock a fitting frame for the 360 from two of the three brands we rate, and between them they cover every seat in this guide. A frame is the vehicle specific base that bolts to the floor in place of the standard seat runners, and it sets your final seat height. The 360’s cockpit is tight and low, so getting the frame right matters more here than it does in a bigger car. Which frame you buy decides which seats you can run, so this choice comes first.

291

Cobra subframe

£275.00 inc VAT, fits one seat. Order it twice for a pair. Bolts a Cobra seat straight to the 360's factory floor points and takes the Corbeau in this guide as well.

ANY

Planted bracket

Part SB159, £222.60 inc VAT a side, RHD driver and passenger sold separately. A flat base that takes any seat in this guide, paired with runners matching that seat's pattern.

The number that decides it

Every reclining seat we sell bolts down through a base mount pattern, and on this car there is one that lines up directly with the frame we sell. Cobra recliners use 291mm x 330mm, which is exactly what the Cobra subframe is built around. The Corbeau Sportline RRS Low Base is drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so it also bolts straight to the Cobra subframe as well as the Planted bracket. The Recaro Sportster CS uses a wider 405mm x 290mm pattern that does not line up with the Cobra subframe at all, so the Planted bracket with a matching runner is the only route we sell for it on this car.

Pick the seat firstThen buy the frame route that matches its pattern. The Corbeau keeps both routes open. If you have not settled on a seat yet and want the Recaro in the mix, go straight for the Planted bracket. My job at GSM is working out exactly this combination for a given car and driver, so if you are stuck between two, ask.

Cobra Daytona: the everyday value pick

The Daytona is the cheapest way onto the Cobra pattern, and for a 360 that still earns its keep as a road car, it is usually the sensible starting point. It is a compact seat with an open base, so climbing in and out of a low, narrow doorway stays easy, and it bolts straight to the Cobra subframe without any pattern mismatch to think about. Cobra list it for both waist ranges and for drivers over and under six foot, which covers most people who ask us about it.

  • £599.00 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • 13.5kg
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern: Cobra subframe or Planted bracket
  • From £499.17 Excl. VAT Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page

Corbeau Sportline RRS Low Base: keeps every route open

  • From £415.00 Excl. VAT Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page

The RRS Low Base is the seat to pick if you are not sure which frame you want yet, or if the 360’s roofline is already close to your head. It is drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so it bolts straight to the Cobra subframe as easily as it does the Planted bracket, and the Low Base version buys back the headroom a taller driver loses in a car this low. The backrest uses Corbeau’s sculpted shape rather than the smoother profile on some of their other seats, worth knowing if you have sat in one of their other models before.

  • £498.00 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • Listed 4 point compatible
  • Low Base version, useful in the 360's low roofline
  • Drilled for both patterns: fits the Cobra subframe and the Planted bracket

Cobra Le Mans Heritage: the support pick with a period look

The Le Mans Heritage is the seat I point people at when the 360 does regular track days rather than just the odd one, and when the driver wants something with a bit more character than an off-the-shelf trim option. The bolsters at the shoulders and thighs sit deeper than the Daytona, so your body stays put mid-corner instead of loading up against the door. It carries the period-correct look of the original Le Mans design rather than a bespoke Signature spec, which suits a car with the 360’s own late-1990s pedigree. It bolts to the same Cobra pattern as the rest of the range.

  • £649.00 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • 13.4kg
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern: Cobra subframe or Planted bracket
  • From £540.83 Excl. VAT Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page

Recaro Sportster CS: the one people ask for by name

  • £79.20 Excl. VAT Add to basket
  • From £1,317.75 Excl. VAT Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page

People ask about this seat regardless of what they drive, and in a 360 it earns its place for the same reason it does everywhere else: it holds you firmly through the shoulders and thighs without the aggressive squeeze of a full bucket, so it stays comfortable on the drive to the circuit as well as on it. Recaro list it for all waist sizes and all heights, which is unusual for a seat with this much support. It uses a 405mm base mount, wider than the Cobra pattern, so it goes on the Planted bracket with a Recaro-compatible runner rather than the Cobra subframe.

  • From £1,581.30 inc VAT
  • All waist sizes, all heights
  • Not published (weight)
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 405mm x 290mm pattern: Planted bracket with a Recaro-compatible runner

Cobra Misano Anniversary: the premium pick

The Misano Anniversary is where the Cobra range stops being a sensible upgrade and starts matching the 360’s own price tag. It is built to order in Cobra’s Signature trim, with the option of heating and lumbar support, and the finish is the sort of thing you notice every time you get in the car rather than only on a track day. It uses the same 291mm pattern as the rest of the Cobra range in this guide, so it bolts straight to the Cobra subframe, and it is the pick I would make if the 360 is staying as a road car that occasionally sees a circuit rather than the other way round.

  • £1,649.00 inc VAT, built to order in your trim
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • 11.5kg
  • Signature trim options, plus optional heating and lumbar
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern: Cobra subframe or Planted bracket
  • From £1,374.17 Excl. VAT Select options This product has multiple variants. The options may be chosen on the product page

Getting it bolted down

Both frames bolt to the 360’s factory seat mounting points, so there is no drilling on a standard floor. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often sits the buckle somewhere new. Between seat and frame go the sliding runners, and they follow the same pattern logic as the frames. The Cobra subframe is sold to fit one seat, so a pair means adding two to the basket, and the Planted bracket is listed per side, RHD driver and passenger, so the same applies there.

The 360 covers Ferrari’s Modena and Spider from 1999 to 2004, including the Challenge Stradale built on the same shell. The Planted bracket is listed for 1999 to 2005, so if your car is right on that boundary, check the exact build date with us before ordering. If your car is a later F430, neither frame in this guide applies.

Common questions

Do I need to drill the floor of my Ferrari 360?

Not on a standard floor. Both frames bolt to the factory seat mounting points. Torque the floor bolts properly and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often sits the buckle somewhere new.

Can I put a Recaro seat on the Cobra subframe?

No. The Cobra subframe is built around the 291mm x 330mm pattern, and the Recaro Sportster CS uses a wider 405mm x 290mm pattern. The Corbeau RRS Low Base is the exception, drilled for both 291mm and 345mm. If you want the Recaro, go straight for the Planted bracket with the matching runner.

Will these seats take a 4 point harness?

Every seat in this guide is listed by its manufacturer as 4 point compatible, with belt slots in the backrest. If you are planning harnesses, tell us when you order and we will make sure the whole setup works together.

Why is the Cobra subframe priced for one seat rather than a pair?

It is listed to fit one seat position, so a pair means adding two to the basket. The Planted bracket works the same way, sold per side with RHD driver and passenger options. If anything on a listing is unclear, ask before ordering.

Which Ferrari 360s does this guide cover?

The 360 Modena and Spider run from 1999 to 2004, and the Challenge Stradale shares the same shell. The Planted bracket is listed for 1999 to 2005, so if your registration is right on that boundary, check the exact build date with us before ordering. Neither frame in this guide applies to the later F430.

Would a fixed bucket seat suit my Ferrari 360 better?

Some owners do go that way. We have written up our recommendation for a fixed-back bucket in the 360's low cockpit, the Sabelt GT3, in our Ferrari 360 bucket seat guide. A recliner keeps the factory-style adjustment and stays usable on the road, so it comes down to how much of the car's life is spent on track.

What I would actually buy

If it were my money: the Daytona on the Cobra subframe for a 360 that still does road miles, because it does most of the job for the least outlay. The RRS Low Base if the roofline is already tight on your head or you have not settled on a frame yet, since it keeps both open. The Le Mans Heritage on the Cobra subframe if track days are a regular thing and you want deeper bolsters with a period-correct look. And if the budget stretches to it, the Misano Anniversary is the one that matches what the car already is, not just what it does on a circuit.

Every combination above uses parts that bolt straight to the 360’s factory mounting points. If you are between two of these seats, or between sizes, get in touch with your height and waist measurement and we will talk it through before you spend anything.
