Suzuki Swift bucket seat guide
All generations, pre-1989 to 2017, including Swift Sport
Five decades of Swift are covered here, and they do not share a fitting frame or a roll cage. Before ordering anything, work out which generation you have: the shape and the year are the two things that decide what fits. The frame section below is organised by generation for that reason.
Once the mounting is settled, the seat and harness choices below apply across the range, because FIA competition seats and harnesses are universal parts rather than car-specific ones.
- The OMP direct fit subframe (HC851) is confirmed for the 2006 to 2010 Swift, £143.52, base mount
- Corbeau make two separate frames, one for pre-1989 cars and one for 2012 to 2017, both £245, Corbeau seats only
- Roll cages are organised by generation. Check your car's year against the listing before ordering
- The Cobra Monaco Pro style base-mount route does not apply here. Every bucket seat on this page is side mount
- Sparco FIA steel side mounts at £90.00 fit Sparco, OMP, Cobra and Sabelt seats on any of the frames below
- All FIA harnesses carry a stamped expiry date that ends their competition life regardless of wear
- The standard rear seat belt mounts are not rated for harness shoulder strap loads
Which generation do you have
Every bucket seat on this page is side mount, so the frame gives you the mounting points and a pair of side mounts on top holds the seat. Work out your generation first, because the frame and the cage both depend on it.
◫
Pre-1989 and 2006 to 2010
The Corbeau frame for pre-1989 cars is brand-locked to Corbeau seats. The OMP HC851 frame for 2006 to 2010 is base mount and takes Corbeau, OMP, Recaro or Sparco base-mount seats, or a side-mount seat once side mounts are added.
☰
2012 to 2017
The Corbeau frame for this generation is also brand-locked to Corbeau seats. No universal frame was found for this generation in the current catalogue, so if you are running a non-Corbeau seat, ask us before ordering and we will check what else is available.
Fitting kits by generation
The Corbeau frames only fit Corbeau seats. Using them with another manufacturer’s seat is not something we would recommend, because the mounting points are made to that brand’s specification.
- OMP direct fit subframe (HC851), £143.52, 2006 to 2010, base mount, takes Corbeau, OMP, Recaro or Sparco base-mount seats
- Corbeau direct fit subframe, £245, pre-1989 cars, Corbeau seats only
- Corbeau direct fit subframe, £245, 2012 to 2017, Corbeau seats only
- Sparco FIA Steel Side Mount Brackets, £90.00 fits Sparco, OMP, Cobra and Sabelt side-mount seats
- Sparco Sliding Runner Kit, £41.94 per seat, 345mm x 271mm bolt pattern

FIA competition bucket seats
Every seat here carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation and is side mount. All need the Sparco FIA steel brackets above, or an equivalent, added to whichever frame matches your generation.
The OMP ARS-R at £513.60 covers a 36in to 38in waist and all heights, the widest fit on this page. The Corbeau Pro Series X System 3 at £852.00 and the Sabelt GT3 at £517.20 are both listed for under 6ft, so a taller driver should start with the ARS-R or the Mirco RS2 3D, which covers all heights.

Reclining sport seats
For a road-going Swift, a reclining seat on the OMP base-mount frame keeps the backrest adjustment. The Sparco R100 at £235 sits on 345mm x 271mm, the same pattern as the Sparco runner above and the OMP frame’s alternate hole spacing. The Auto Style Type AK and Type RK sit on 405mm x 280mm, matching the frame’s other bolt pattern.
Three Corbeau pairs, the Sportline RRS, SVR Vinyl and Sportline RRB, are all listed on 291mm x 330mm or 345mm x 271mm and cover 32in to 38in waist across the pair, which makes them the most flexible fit if you want two matching seats.

Our recommendationConfirm your generation before ordering the frame
With five generations and two different frame makers on this page, the year of your car decides which frame and which cage apply. Send us the registration and tell us whether the build is for road use or heading towards a cage, and Cameron will confirm the right frame and narrow the seat list.
Harnesses
There is no harness made specifically for the Swift, so you are fitting a universal belt and working out the mounting yourself. The standard rear seat belt mounts are not rated for harness shoulder strap loads, so a cage, a bolt-in harness bar, or a fabricated anchor point is needed.
The Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 and the TRS Magnum 6 Point Superlite at £245 are both FIA 8853-2016. The TRS Magnum 4 Point at £139 is FIA 8854-1998. All three carry a stamped expiry date regardless of wear. For a road or trackday car, the Takata Drift II and III and the TRS Clubman belts cost less, though none of those four are HANS compatible.

Our recommendationConfirm the anchor before the belt
Tell us whether the car is caged, what is behind the seats now, and whether a head restraint is going in, and we will tell you what the shoulder straps can anchor to before you spend anything on the belt.
Roll cages by generation
Safety Devices and Custom Cages both build separate cages for the MK1 and MK2 shapes. For the pre-2004 MK1, the Safety Devices 6 Point Bolt-In at £868.80 and the Custom Cages T45 at £1,112.40 are both confirmed for that shape. For the MK2, the Safety Devices 6 Point Bolt-In at £884.40 and the Custom Cages CDS at £1,311.00 apply.
For the current-shape 2004 to 2010 Swift, Custom Cages list an International Multipoint T45 Roll Cage at £1,818.30 and SW Motorsports offer a half cage at £318.00 for a lower budget or a car that just needs harness anchors rather than full protection. For the turbocharged Swift Sport, Safety Devices list a Multipoint Bolt-In Roll Cage at £1,181.62 built specifically for that model.
Check your generation against the listing before ordering. If competing, check the specification against your class regulations too, and keep the sign-off paperwork with the logbook. Pad any tube within reach of a helmet, and tell your insurer, because a cage is a notifiable modification.

Common questions
Which frame does my Swift need?
It depends on the year. The OMP HC851 is confirmed for 2006 to 2010 and is base mount, taking Corbeau, OMP, Recaro or Sparco seats. Corbeau make their own frames for pre-1989 cars and for 2012 to 2017, but both are locked to Corbeau seats only. Send us the registration and we will confirm which applies to your car.
Can I use a non-Corbeau seat with the Corbeau frame?
No, not one we would recommend. The Corbeau frames are made to Corbeau’s own mounting specification, so pairing them with another brand’s seat is not something the frame is designed for.
Is there a frame for the 2012 to 2017 Swift if I am not running a Corbeau seat?
Not one we could confirm in the current catalogue. Ask us and we will check what else is available for that generation.
Which roll cage matches my Swift?
It depends on the shape and year. Safety Devices and Custom Cages both make separate cages for the MK1, the MK2, and the current-shape 2004 to 2010 car. The Swift Sport has its own Safety Devices cage. Check your generation against the listing before ordering, because they are not interchangeable.
Which harness should I buy?
For FIA competition, the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 and the TRS Magnum 6 Point Superlite at £245 both meet 8853-2016, and the TRS Magnum 4 Point at £139 meets 8854-1998. For road and trackday use, the Takata Drift II and III and the TRS Clubman belts cost less but are not HANS compatible.
Can I use the standard rear seat belt mounts for the harness?
No. They are not rated for the loads a harness shoulder strap puts through them in an impact. A cage, a bolt-in harness bar, or a fabricated anchor point is needed instead.
Which seat suits a wider driver?
The OMP ARS-R at £513.60 covers 36in to 38in waist and all heights, the widest fit on this page. Most of the others here are listed for 32in to 36in and under 6ft.
