The B6 Screamer is the FIA-homologated version of Tillett’s B6 shell. The shape is the same compact, upright profile built for track cars and low road cars, but it carries FIA 8855-1999 approval where the standard B6 does not. If your class regulations require a homologated seat, the Screamer is the seat to order. It also sets the reference angle for HANS device use at 30 degrees.

Construction on this version is carbon and GRP, SKU B6S-4-C. Tillett build each shell to a weight range of 5.8 to 6.1 kg, with variations of up to 10 per cent between shells. Rolled edges add 4 cm to the outside dimension, so the seat measures 40 cm wide without them and 44 cm wide with them on. Both widths are covered within the FIA 8855-1999 homologation, which means you are not restricted to one edge cut or the other when buying.

The Screamer takes a 6-point harness and mounts by side mount only. There is no base mount fitting on the Screamer shell.

Against the rest of the Tillett range: the standard B6 in carbon and GRP gives you the same shell for less without the FIA ticket. If the regulations you compete under do not require homologation, the standard B6 is the sensible option. If they do, this is the seat. The B6 Screamer XL is the wider version, running 43 cm without rolled edges and 47 cm with them on, at the same price. The only difference between standard and XL Screamers is the interior width.

The B7 Epoxy carries the same FIA 8855-1999 approval and is lighter at 3.8 kg, but costs roughly three times as much. That weight saving is worth the price for some applications. For most club racing classes, the B6 Screamer is the practical choice.

Headrest cushion and Dinamica faux suede panels available as options.

Tillett seat size guide

Tillett shells are thin single-skin composites with almost no padding, so the internal width is the seat width. Tillett publish it for every model, and the XL and W versions exist for a reason.

How Tillett size their seats

Tillett quote an external and an internal width for each shell. Because there is no foam to squash, your seated hip width has to fit inside the internal figure with 10 to 20 mm to spare. Every B-series shell has an XL, about 30 mm wider, and the W2i and W6 are the wide versions of the W1i and W5, made for drivers over 100 kg or over a 36 inch waist.

Several shells are offered with a rolled edge or a cut edge. The cut edge (B6-40, B7-40, B8-43) loses 30 to 40 mm of external width for narrow cars without changing the inside.

Brackets have to match the shellTillett brackets are angled to match the side of the seat: 8 degrees on the B2, 2 degrees on the B6, B7 and B8. A bracket at the wrong angle stresses the composite. Use a load-spreading spacer of at least 40 mm at every bolt.

Tillett dimensions

From Tillett’s dimension sheets, 2022 to 2025. Widths are the widest point.

Measure yourself first

Four numbers decide whether a seat fits. Take them in the clothes you drive in, and write them down before you compare models.

AWaistAround your natural waist, not your trouser size. Trouser sizes usually run an inch or two under the real figure, and the waist bands on our product pages use the real one.
BSeated hip widthSit on a hard chair with your feet flat and measure straight across the widest point of your hips with a rule or a straight edge, not a tape that follows the curve. This is the number that decides whether a fixed shell is tight.
CShouldersStraight across the back at the widest point. Fixed back seats hold you here, so a shell that is narrow at the shoulders is uncomfortable long before it is unsafe.
DHeight and torsoYour height, and if you are over 6 ft whether that is mostly leg or mostly body. A long body needs a taller shell with the head support set higher.

Before you order

  • Check the car, not only the driver. Transmission tunnels, door cards and B pillars are what stop a wide shell going in. Our seat mounting and fixing points guide covers what to measure.
  • Side mount and base mount shells are not interchangeable. Which one you need depends on the car and the subframe, so pick the brackets at the same time as the seat.
  • If you run a HANS or plan to, filter on HANS friendly. The shoulder openings are cut to clear the collar.
  • FIA seats carry an expiry date on the homologation label. Check what your championship accepts and how long the seat has left, particularly on discounted older stock.
Send us your measurementsWaist, seated hip width, height and the car. We have fitted a lot of Tillett seats and will tell you honestly if the one you have picked is going to be tight. Call 0115 989 3488 or email Sales@GSMPerformance.co.uk.

Waist bands are our product data, checked 6 September 2026. Widths, heights and weights are from Tillett’s dimension sheets dated 2022 to 2025; blanks are where the sheet gives no figure.

Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Tillett B6 Screamer Seat On Display In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.

Will I fit in this seat?
Send us your height and waist size and we will confirm the fit. The paper dimensions only tell half the story, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so you get the honest answer rather than a guess from a chart.

Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.

What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.

Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.

How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.

Special order

Because each seat is made for you, our special order terms apply once production has begun.
