Tillett B6 Screamer Seat On Display In-Store

In store, July 2023

The Tillett B6 Screamer is now on display in our showroom, ready to sit in and try before you buy. It is one of the most popular seats in the Tillett range, and it is a very different kind of seat from the trimmed buckets around it.

The one we have is a gloss black fibreglass (GRP) shell with the Tillett logo embroidered in yellow. It is slim, sculpted and FIA approved, and it suits dedicated track cars as well as fast road builds.

  • A Tillett B6 Screamer GRP seat on display in the showroom
  • FIA 8855-1999 approved, side mounted, seat only
  • Tillett quote 5.8kg to 6.1kg for the Screamer shells
  • The XL version is 30mm wider inside
  • Replaces the B6F, and Tillett say it is 20% lighter
  • Short back, so not ideal for drivers with a tall torso

The B6 Screamer

The Screamer is a direct replacement for Tillett’s popular B6F. Tillett redesigned it with a new moulding process, and they say it is 20% lighter than the B6F without losing strength. They quote 5.8kg to 6.1kg across the Screamer shells.

It is approved to FIA 8855-1999, so it can be used in motorsport that calls for a homologated seat. The belt holes sit higher than before, for a more comfortable harness fit, and the back of the seat is more compact, which helps it clear roll bars in a tight cockpit.

The Screamer can be used comfortably with little or no padding, which means you can sit lower than in most seats. That is useful for a taller driver in a caged car.

When ordering, Tillett offer options on material, seat size, cover design, embroidered logo colour and cushions, so the seat can be matched to the cockpit and the driver.

How it fits: a test sit

For our photos, a driver with a 34 to 36 inch waist, 5ft 11in tall, sat in the XL version of the Screamer. There was still space around the sides of the hips, and plenty of room between the shoulders and the harness slots, which matters for the belts to sit properly over the shoulders.

For that driver, the standard Screamer would be the better choice, since it is 30mm narrower than the XL and would hold them more securely. The XL suits drivers with a 34 to 38 inch waist. One thing to watch: the back is short, so a driver with a tall torso may not get enough contact between the back of the head and the head support. Garreth’s advice is to try it first if you are tall in the body.

Our updated Tillett range

We updated our whole Tillett range at the start of the year. Coloured logos are now an option on every Tillett seat, and every listing has new information on weight, ideal use and design, with suitable bundle items at the checkout.

The range also includes Tillett fitting equipment. There are side mounts made to fit particular Tillett seats, and we have bundled the right side mounts and sliding runner kits with the matching seats, so the seat and fittings are known to work together. Tillett sliding runners let the seat move back and forth for a comfortable driving position. Our guide to bucket seat mounting covers the rest.

Newer additions include the B8, in fibreglass and carbon fibre. It is shaped for production sports cars and suits taller drivers who want to sit lower. It is a road and track seat, not FIA approved.

Yes. It is homologated to FIA 8855-1999.

Tillett quote 5.8kg to 6.1kg across the Screamer shells.

The XL is 30mm wider inside than the standard Screamer.

It sits you low, but the back is short, so a driver with a tall torso should try it first.
