The SW Motorsports Honda Civic EP Direct Fit Subframe, part SWS-Honda-Civic-EP, fits the seventh-generation Honda Civic on the EP chassis (2001–2005) and accepts a Sparco-pattern seat at 345mm centre-to-centre. It is sold per seat position.
The EP3 Type R was the performance version of this generation: 200bhp from the K20A2 engine, a six-speed close-ratio gearbox, a Helical front LSD and Recaro Speed seats as standard. The Recaro Speed was a capable seat for road use but heavier than a competition bucket and mounted higher on its base structure. On track, the EP3 has remained in use in club events and time attack well past its production run. The floor layout is consistent across EP2, EP3 and the Type R, so this subframe covers all variants of the EP chassis.
The floor mounting points on the EP Civic are specific to this generation. The FN2 Type R that arrived from 2007 onwards uses a different floor arrangement and is not covered by this part. If your Civic is the 2007–2011 Type R hatchback, that is the FN2 and you will need different hardware.
Honda K-series builds in Time Attack regularly use this kind of subframe to bring the driver down close to the floor. Removing runner flex removes one variable in the chain between driver and chassis, and the lower position is relevant for builds where a cage or harness bar constrains available head clearance.
