The SW Motorsports Renault Clio 197 Direct Fit Subframe, part SWS-Clio3-Mount-197, is the correct subframe for the Renaultsport Clio 197 and 200, not the standard Mk3 Clio. If your car is a 197, 200 Cup or 200 Trophy, this is the listing to use. The top bolt spacing is 345mm, matching the Sparco bottom-mount pattern.
The Clio 197 (2006–2009) and the Clio 200 (2009–2012) are the Renaultsport versions of the Mk3 Clio body. They differ from the standard Mk3 in several ways, including a revised front floor crossmember that changes the seat mounting geometry at the front. The standard Mk3 Clio subframe (SWS-Clio3-Mount) is not compatible with the Renaultsport floor: the front mounting point does not align. The Clio 197 has its own dedicated subframe specifically because of that floor difference, and fitting the wrong part causes a problem at that front mount that is not immediately obvious until you try to torque the bolt down.
The 197 and 200 were well-established circuit cars: the 197bhp K4J engine and the 200’s revised version were tractable on track, and both were used in PCA circuits and Club Endurance. The Cup versions came with Bilstein dampers, no front wiper motor and a stripped interior. Removing the original seats and fitting a bucket on this subframe was part of the standard track preparation on all variants.
The standard Mk3 Clio side mounts and subframe are both in the range for the non-RS car; this part is exclusively for the Renaultsport version.
