Which is unusual and worth knowing. Volkswagen decontented the Mk6 Jetta for the American market, including a torsion beam rear end on most versions where the Golf kept the multi link. It is a cheaper car underneath, not simply a different body.
The GLI is the exception: Volkswagen gave it the independent rear suspension and the GTI engine, which makes it the version worth building.
