The Japanese DC5 Type R came with Recaro seats and the American RSX Type-S did not, which is one of the real differences between the two despite the shared body. If yours is a genuine JDM Type R with the Recaros, they are worth real money and worth keeping.

Why the seat matters on a DC5
It grips hard and it revs, and getting the best out of a K20 means being smooth and precise with the wheel at high revs. You cannot be precise while bracing yourself, which is the honest case here.
