Planted’s own SB017 listing covers the 996, Boxster, 997, Cayman and 991 together, because Porsche kept a common seat mounting arrangement across the water cooled cars. We break that out per model so a 997 owner has a 997 page to find. Same bracket.

The 997 in two halves

Gen 1 cars to 2008 have the M96 and M97 engines. Gen 2 from 2009 brought direct injection and a different engine architecture, and reputations and values differ sharply between them. If you are buying or building one, that distinction matters more than almost anything else about the car.
