1976 to 1988
The 924, 1976 to 1988, was the first Porsche transaxle sports car and remains an affordable way into Porsche ownership. The Cobra subframe range splits by production date, so check which applies to your car before ordering.

Mounting
Check your production date before orderingCobra build two different subframes for the 924, split at October 1984. Check the build date of your car before ordering.
The Cobra Direct Fit Subframes are £158.33, for cars from August 1973 to September 1984 or from October 1984 onward depending which you need. The Recaro Direct Fit Sub-frames at £215.25 (or £303.97 for the shared 924/944 fitment) and the Corbeau Direct Fit Sub-frames at £245 are further confirmed options.
The Recaro Steel Side Mount Brackets at £179.50 give a further fixing option.

Competition bucket seats
The Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 is the accessible starting point. The Cobra Monaco Premium Edition at £295.50 and Sparco QRT-R Fibreglass at £544 sit a step up. The Recaro Profi SPG at £985 and Recaro Pole Position with ABE at £866.25 are further options. The Recaro Pole Position 2018 Edition at £1205.40 and Recaro Pole Position Carbon with ABE at £2346.75 are the top of the range for a 924 built properly for competition.

Roll cages
Confirm dash change date or 924S fitmentThe Safety Devices cages are built for the pre dash change 924, shared with the 944. The Custom Cages weld-in kits are built specifically for the 924S. Confirm which applies to your car.
The Safety Devices Roll Rear Cage at £429 is a lighter, rear-only fit for the pre dash change car. The full Roll Cage is £749. For the 924S, the Custom Cages Multipoint CDS Kit is £1150 and the Multipoint T45 Kit is £1545.

Roll cage for the 924Which roll cage for a Porsche 924
If you have the pre dash change car, the Safety Devices Roll Cage at £749 is the practical option, or the Roll Rear Cage at £429 if you do not need the full structure. For the 924S, the Custom Cages Multipoint T45 Kit at £1545 is the top of the range here.
Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370.01 all suit a caged 924 going to competition or serious track days.

How do I know which Cobra subframe I need?
Check the production date of your car. Cobra build one subframe for cars from August 1973 to September 1984 and a different one from October 1984 onward.
Do the cages fit both the 924 and the 924S?
The Safety Devices cages are for the pre dash change 924, shared with the 944. The Custom Cages weld-in kits are built specifically for the 924S. Confirm which applies to your car.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first.
Should I choose a competition bucket or a reclining seat?
A competition bucket holds you better through a corner but is harder to live with day to day. A reclining seat keeps more factory comfort while still improving on the standard seat.
