R35, 2007 onwards
This guide covers the R35 GT-R, not the older Skyline GT-R (R32/R33/R34), which needs different parts entirely, ask us if you have one of those. Nissan changed the R35 continuously across its life rather than replacing it, so the car sold in 2016 is a long way from the one sold in 2008 despite looking similar. Planted Technology confirm three different brackets across the years, so check your exact year before ordering.

Mounting

The Planted Technology bracket at £185.50 comes in three year ranges: 2007-2010, 2011-2016, and 2017 onwards. The M2 Direct Fit Sub-frames at £138.50 and the Cobra Direct Fit Subframes at £193.05 are not tied to a specific year range.
The Sparco FIA Steel Side Mount Brackets at £75 and the Sparco Seat Sliding Runner Kit at £34.95 give further fixing options for seats using their own runners.

Competition bucket seats
The Sparco Sprint FIA at £210 and Cobra Monaco Pro at £235 are the accessible starting points. The OMP Champ-R at £318, Sparco Grid Q at £365, and Sabelt GT3 at £431 sit a step up. The Corbeau Sprint X System 1 at £575 is built specifically for FIA competition.
The Recaro Pole Position with ABE at £866.25, the Cobra Misano Anniversary built specifically for the GT-R at £1395, and the Recaro Pole Position Carbon with ABE at £2346.75 are the premium options for a GT-R built properly for competition.

For a GT-R built properly for competition at the top of the range, the Recaro Pole Position Carbon with ABE at £2346.75 gives the strongest support here.
Reclining sport seats

Reclining seats for the GT-RWhich reclining seat for a Nissan GT-R
The Auto Style Type C at £225 is the sensible starting point, comfortable for daily use with more support than the factory seat. For a genuine step up, the Cobra Daytona at £499.17 gives stronger lateral hold while keeping more comfort than a fixed-back shell.
Roll cage
The Sparco Multipoint Bolt In Roll Cage at £1215.68 is confirmed for the GT-R, for a car built properly for competition.
Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370.01 all suit a caged GT-R going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions
Does this cover the older Skyline GT-R?
No. The Skyline GT-R (R32, R33, R34) needs completely different parts. Ask us if you have one and we will point you to the right fitment.
Which bracket year range do I need?
Nissan revised the R35 continuously: 2007-2010, 2011-2016, and 2017 onwards each take a different Planted bracket. Send us your registration if you are not sure.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first.
Should I choose a competition bucket or a reclining seat?
A competition bucket holds you better through a corner but is harder to live with day to day. A reclining seat keeps more factory comfort while still improving on the standard seat.
