Ford Fiesta Mk5 bucket seat guide
2002 to 2008, including ST150
The ST150 is quick enough that the driver ends up bracing rather than steering through anything fast, which is exactly the gap a bucket seat fills on this car. It takes its own sub-frame, a different part from the standard Mk5, and the two are not interchangeable.
Check the car rather than the badge on the boot before ordering. A boot badge is the easiest thing on a Fiesta to have been changed, and the standard Mk5 and ST150 do not share a mounting geometry despite looking similar from outside.
This guide covers both sub-frames, the competition seats that suit an ST150 or a modified standard Mk5, and the roll cages built for this generation.
- The ST150 uses its own OMP sub-frame (236140, part HC845-ST150), a different part from the standard Mk5 frame (15767). They are not interchangeable. Check the car itself rather than trusting a boot badge
- Both sub-frames cover the 345mm x 271mm and larger 405mm x 290mm bolt patterns, taking Sparco, OMP, Corbeau and Recaro base-mount seats
- OMP sub-frames may need longer bolts than the original equipment fixings; these are not supplied and may need sourcing separately
- Side mount is available via the Sparco FIA steel brackets, useful for competition shells with side tabs
- Harnesses above 3-point need a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar
Mounting
The standard Mk5 sub-frame (15767) at £109.50 fixes to the chassis floor and covers both the 345mm x 271mm and the larger 405mm x 290mm bolt patterns, taking Sparco, OMP, Corbeau and Recaro base-mount seats. It is finished in a durable black paint. No fixing bolts are included, and OMP note these frames may not work with the original OEM bolts; longer bolts may be needed.
The ST150 sub-frame (236140, part HC845-ST150) at £106.37 is a separate part within the same HC845 family, but the standard Mk5 and the ST150 parts are not interchangeable. Check the car rather than the boot badge before ordering, since a badge swap is one of the easiest and most common changes made to a Fiesta.
For side mount, the Sparco FIA steel brackets (13876) carry their own FIA approval. Add the Sparco sliding runner kit (14036) for fore-aft adjustment.

Competition bucket seats
The Auto Style Type BS6 at £249 and OMP TRS-X Steel Frame at £220 are both accessible options for a first competition seat on an ST150. Most of the remaining seats here carry FIA 8855-1999 approval.
The OMP Champ-R at £318, Mirco GT Velour at £317 and Mirco RS2 3D at £354.50 are all fibreglass FIA options at a similar price. The Sparco Circuit QRT at £440, Sparco Grid Q at £365 and Sabelt GT3 at £431 sit at the upper end, all suited to an ST150 built for regular track use. The Corbeau Sprint X System 1 at £575 is the newest-standard FIA seat in this range.

If you want FIA approval at a similar price, the OMP Champ-R at £318 is the lighter fibreglass option. For a car built properly for circuit work, the Sparco Circuit QRT at £440 or the Corbeau Sprint X System 1 at £575 give more support through fast corners. Reclining sport seats
Reclining sport seats are base mount on the Fiesta Mk5, fitting either sub-frame above. The Auto Style range covers the accessible end: the Type AK at £235 and the Type JW at £245.60. The Sparco R100 at £235 is the alternative at a similar price, with good lateral support for a recliner.
The Sparco R333 at £374.56 gives a step up if the ST150 sees regular track use and needs more lateral hold than the entry-level recliners provide.

Roll cages
Custom Cages list two bolt-in options for the Fiesta Mk5. The standard bolt-in cage (14283) at £1341.36 is designed for road, track or full motorsport use. The 2004 International Multipoint T45 (16695) at £1397.93 is the more comprehensive kit, built to the same International specification used across Custom Cages’ Ford range.
Harnesses
Harnesses need a roll cage or harness barA 4-point, 5-point or 6-point harness with separate shoulder straps needs proper attachment points above and behind the seat. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar before using anything above a 3-point belt.
The TRS Clubman 3-point bolt-in at £80 and 4-point clip-in at £100 both use the standard seat belt anchor points and do not need a cage. For 4-point competition use, the TRS Magnum 4-point FIA at £205 and the Takata Drift II at £229 are the step up.
For 6-point harnesses, the cage goes in first. The TRS Magnum 6-point Superlite FIA at £245, the Takata Drift III at £270, and the Schroth Profi 3×2 at £370 all suit a caged Fiesta Mk5 going to competition or serious track days.

Common questions
Does the ST150 use the same sub-frame as the standard Mk5?
No. The ST150 has its own part within the same HC845 family, but it is not interchangeable with the standard Mk5 sub-frame. Check the car itself rather than trusting the badge on the boot before ordering, since badges are easily swapped.
Do I need longer bolts for the OMP sub-frame?
Possibly. OMP note that the frames may not work with the original equipment fixing bolts, and longer bolts may be needed. These are not supplied with the sub-frame; check the fit before assuming the standard bolts will do the job.
Are the roll cages suitable for track and motorsport use?
Both Custom Cages options listed are designed for road, track or full motorsport use.
Can I run a 6-point harness without a roll cage?
No. A 6-point harness needs anchor points above and behind the seat for the shoulder straps. Fit a roll cage or a properly engineered harness bar first. A 3-point bolt-in harness uses the standard seat belt anchor points and does not need a cage.
