The Series 3 factory seat is a canvas sling over a metal frame. Cobra made a proper replacement in the 1990s when it became clear that enough people were using these vehicles for more than farm work. The subframe bolts to the original floor mounting points on all years of the Series 3 and the sliding runner comes with it. There is no drilling, no fabrication, and the job takes a morning.
The five seats in this guide all recline, which matters in a vehicle where the driving position is more upright than most cars and longer stints at the wheel are common. All five bolt to the same single frame. The parts list is short: seat, frame.
Land Rover did not design the Series 3 around driver comfort. The original seat is mounted on a basic steel frame with a canvas or vinyl covering, and the mounting points in the floor are industrial rather than ergonomic. What Cobra built is a subframe that uses those same floor mounting points, bolts in without modification, and carries a modern sport seat at a usable height and position. The runner is part of the kit at £255 inc VAT per side.
Unlike the Sparco, Planted, OMP, Recaro and Corbeau frames that sell the runner separately, the Cobra kit arrives with it included. You order the seat and the frame, and that is the job.
Part SU-LR-S3, £255 inc VAT a side. Runner included. Sold per seat: a pair means two in the basket. Bolts to the factory floor mounting points on all years of the Land Rover Series 3.
Every seat in this guide uses a 291mm bolt pattern, which is what the Cobra subframe is built around. The Corbeau seats are also drilled for a 345mm pattern, though that set of holes is not in play on this route. All five go straight onto the one frame with no adapters and no decisions between routes.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Cobra subframe |
|---|---|---|
| Corbeau PSR | 291 or 345 | Fits |
| Cobra Le Mans | 291 x 330 | Fits |
| Corbeau Sportsman | 291 or 345 | Fits |
| Cobra Le Mans Heritage | 291 x 330 | Fits |
| Corbeau SVR | 291 or 345 | Fits |
The PSR is the practical starting point. Cloth recliner, Corbeau’s standard construction, a pair listing that makes the initial cost easy to calculate. At £558 for both seats, add the two Cobra subframes at £255 each and the full re-seat of the cab comes to £1,068 inc VAT. That covers both sides with a seat that holds you laterally and is easy to clean after a day’s use.
The PSR is 4-point harness compatible, which means the backrest has harness slots if you ever run a lap belt harness at an event. The cloth trim in black suits most Series 3 interiors without looking out of place. Cameron fits these where the brief is a proper upgrade at a sensible number, not a detailed interior build.
The Le Mans is Cobra’s entry-level sport recliner and the choice for anyone who wants a Cobra rather than a Corbeau. The shoulder support is more defined than the PSR, the profile is tidy in a Series 3 cabin, and the 291mm base mount goes directly to the Cobra subframe. At £619 inc VAT per seat, one driver’s side with a subframe costs £874 all in.
The construction is steel-framed with vinyl trim, which handles water and mud better than cloth in a vehicle where the cab sees weather. The Le Mans sits at the base of the Cobra range and is where a lot of Series 3 owners start before deciding whether to move up to the Heritage or stay here.
Corbeau makes the Sportsman specifically for classic and vintage vehicles. The bolsters are less aggressive than the PSR, the profile is upright in a way that suits period interiors, and the vinyl trim is a finish that reads as appropriate in a Series 3 cab rather than dropped in from a modern hatchback. For a vehicle produced between 1971 and 1985, that matters more than it might on something recent.
At £468 inc VAT per seat it costs slightly more than the PSR per individual seat. It fits on the 291mm holes in the Cobra subframe the same as the PSR. Cameron tends to recommend the Sportsman over the PSR where the vehicle is a restoration or has a period interior, and the PSR where the brief is simply a working upgrade.
The Heritage is the same seat architecture as the Le Mans with a trim combination that reads better in an older interior. Cobra offer this as a specific product: the vinyl and stitching pattern is different, and in a Series 3 that has been restored or kept in period condition, the difference is worth the £30 over the standard Le Mans. At £649 inc VAT it sits between the Le Mans and the SVR in this guide.
The 291mm base mount is the same as the standard Le Mans. If the build has no strong period brief, the standard Le Mans is fine. If the interior has been done properly, the Heritage reads more intentional.
The SVR is where Corbeau’s build quality steps up. The bolsters are deeper than the PSR, the construction is more substantial, and the lateral support on rough ground is noticeably better than the entry-level options. For a Series 3 that sees off-camber work or longer road sections, the SVR holds you in place rather than asking you to stay there yourself. At £1,020 inc VAT for the pair that is £510 per seat: add two subframes and both sides come to £1,530 all in.
The SVR is Corbeau’s recommendation for lower-roofed vehicles, though a Series 3 hardtop has adequate headroom for most drivers at standard seat height. Seven stitching colours are available if the interior has a specific look. The fitting is the same as the PSR: 291mm holes into the Cobra subframe.
The Cobra subframe for the Series 3 includes the sliding runner in the kit price. Every other frame brand in this series sells the runner separately: on this vehicle, that step is already handled. Both driver and passenger sides use the same subframe (part SU-LR-S3), sold per seat position. When you order the frame on its own, tell Cobra which seat is going on it in the comments box at checkout.
Torque the floor bolts to spec after fitting and check the seat belt buckle position before driving. A sport seat typically moves the buckle from where the standard seat left it, and the Series 3 seat belt geometry is not generous to start with.

Prices include VAT and were correct on 13 September 2026. Where a weight says not published, the manufacturer does not give one and we will not guess it. The Cobra subframe adds £255 inc VAT per side on top of the seat price, runner included.
No. The Cobra subframe bolts to the factory seat mounting points on all years of the Series 3. Nothing is drilled on a standard floor. Torque the floor bolts to spec once the subframe is in and check the seat belt buckle clears before you drive anywhere.
The product in this guide (part SU-LR-S3) is listed for the Series 3 specifically. The mounting point layout on Series 2 and 2A vehicles may or may not be identical. If you have an earlier vehicle, ask us before ordering and we will confirm what is in stock for that floor arrangement.
All five seats in this guide are listed by their manufacturers as 4-point harness compatible. That means the backrest has slots for a 4-point lap belt harness. If you are planning a full harness alongside the seat, say so when you order and we will confirm the complete setup is compatible for the use case.
The subframe fits one seat position, driver or passenger. A pair of seats means two subframes in the basket. The runner is included in each one, so there is nothing extra to add for that. If the listing shows a single part number, it is for one side: add quantity two for both positions.
Most Series 3 hardtop builds have adequate headroom for the seats in this guide at standard installation height. The softtop and canvas-hood versions are more open still. The Corbeau SVR is the seat Corbeau specifically flag for lower-roofed vehicles in this range, so if headroom is a known constraint on your build, start there. Cameron can run through the options if you want a second opinion before ordering.
For a Series 3 used for classic events, overlanding, or daily driving where the brief is a proper upgrade without making the vehicle look like something it is not: the Corbeau PSR pair. At £279 a seat with the runner in the frame price, both sides come to just over £1,000 all in. It cleans easily, holds you laterally, and does not try to be clever.
If the vehicle has been restored or the interior is getting proper attention: the Corbeau Sportsman. Corbeau made it specifically for classic vehicles and the trim reads correctly in a period cab. At £468 each it costs more per seat than the PSR pair but it suits the build brief better.
For a Series 3 that is used hard off-road and you want the best lateral support in this lineup: the Corbeau SVR. Deeper bolsters, noticeably better hold on rough ground, and the pair price is reasonable for what it delivers.
If you are between two of these and want to talk it through before ordering, the showroom number is 0115 647 8650. Cameron can match you to the right one for your specific build and use.
