Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Fiat Bravo, including our fitting guide

The Fiat Bravo HGT has a 2.0L 20V engine producing 150bhp in a body that weighs under 1100kg. The chassis is well-sorted for a car of its era, the steering is quick and reasonably communicative, and in the right trim a Bravo is genuinely entertaining on a circuit or a fast B-road. What the factory seats do not do is match that capability. They were adequate when the car was new in the late 1990s; after 25 years the bolsters have often given up, and even when fresh they left the driver sliding around under hard cornering.

A reclining sport seat sorts both problems without making the car awkward to use every day. You keep the fore-aft adjustment and the tilting backrest for passengers, and you gain the side support the standard seats never quite managed. Two direct-fit subframes exist for the Bravo: one from Cobra, one from Sparco. Which one you buy pins the seats you can run.

  • Two frame routes in stock: Cobra subframe (291mm) and Sparco subframe (345mm)
  • Corbeau recliners are drilled for both patterns and fit either frame on this car
  • Every seat in this guide is listed as 4 point harness compatible
  • Both subframes bolt to the Bravo's factory floor mounting points, no drilling required
  • Sparco subframes listed for August 1995 to August 2001

The two frame routes into a Fiat Bravo

We stock a direct-fit subframe for the Bravo from two brands. A subframe bolts to the factory floor in place of the standard seat runners and sets the final seat height, and the brand of subframe determines which seats can go on it. That decision comes before the seat choice. Both bolt to the Bravo’s factory mounting points without drilling on a standard floor.

291

Cobra subframe

£231.66 inc VAT per side, sold individually (one seat position). Pairs with 291mm runners and takes the Daytona, the Misano and the Corbeaus. Tell us which seat you are fitting when you order.

345

Sparco subframe

£87.00 inc VAT per side, RHD driver and passenger listed separately. Listed for the Bravo from August 1995 to August 2001. Pairs with 345mm runners and takes the R100, the R500 and the Corbeaus.

The number that decides it

Reclining seats bolt down through a base mount pattern, and on the Bravo two of them matter. Cobra recliners use 291mm x 330mm, which matches the Cobra subframe. Sparco recliners use 345mm x 271mm, which matches the Sparco subframe. The two patterns do not cross over, so a Cobra seat will not go on a Sparco subframe and a Sparco seat will not go on a Cobra one. Corbeau drill their recliners for both, which is why the SVR and RRS appear in both columns below and are the only seats here that fit either frame without adaptation.

If you are working out combinations for a specific budget or build, Cameron at GSM does this most days and is happy to talk it through before you commit to anything.

Sparco R100: the everyday value pick

The R100 is the recliner we sell more of than anything else across the range. On the Bravo it works well because it is a compact seat in a compact car: the open base does not fight you getting in through the three-door aperture, and the fore-aft range from the runners is easy to live with. Sparco rate it for all waist sizes and for drivers both over and under six foot, which matches what we see on the counter. Very few people cannot find a comfortable position. Take it on the Sparco subframe with the runner kit and you have a complete driver-side upgrade for well under £500.

  • From £282 inc VAT
  • All waist sizes, over and under six foot
  • Cloth and vinyl trim options
  • 4 point harness compatible

Sparco R500: more support, same bolt pattern

  • £274.16 Excl. VAT Add to basket
  • £290.83 Excl. VAT Add to basket

The R500 sits above the R100 in Sparco’s recliner range and the difference is at the shoulders and upper back. The backrest is taller, the shoulder support wraps further, and dual density foam in the base and backrest holds its shape better over longer stints at a circuit. It comes in fabric or Sparco’s Sky vinyl, which is worth choosing if the car sees wet track days and the seat needs wiping down afterwards. Both seat options share the 345mm pattern, so switching between the R100 and R500 later does not mean touching the subframe at all.

  • From £329 inc VAT in fabric or £349 in Sky vinyl
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • Dual density foam in base and backrest
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 345mm x 271mm pattern, same route as the R100

Cobra Daytona: the support pick

The Daytona is Cobra’s entry point into their reclining range and the one Cameron points most Cobra enquiries at, because the bolstering is a genuine step up from either Sparco without the price going past £700 on the standard build. The shoulder and thigh sections hold you through corners rather than letting you perch on them, and the build-to-order Signature system means the trim is your choice: spacer fabric, vinyl or leather, one or two colours, contrast stitching, and optional heating or lumbar if you want them. The Tartan Edition is available off the shelf for the considered look without waiting. Fits the Cobra subframe with 291mm sliding runners, self-contained for one side of the car.

  • From £599 inc VAT; Tartan Edition at £899 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights, 13.5kg, 865mm tall and 580mm wide
  • Signature trim options, optional heating and lumbar
  • 4 point harness compatible

Corbeau SVR and RRS: one seat, two styles

  • £850.00 Excl. VAT Add to basket
  • £830.00 Excl. VAT Add to basket

Corbeau’s two most popular recliners share the same base and differ at the backrest. The SVR has a taller, smoother modern back; the RRS has the classic sculpted shape that most people picture when they think of a reclining sport seat. Because both are drilled for 291mm and 345mm, they are the only seats in this guide that fit either the Cobra or the Sparco subframe on the Bravo without any adaptation. Both are sold as pairs, which is how most people buy them: one order, both sides of the car sorted. The RRS also comes in a Low Base version for cars where headroom is tight, so ask about that one if it applies to yours.

  • RRS pair £996 inc VAT, SVR pair £1020 inc VAT
  • Same base drilled for 291mm and 345mm: fits either frame on this car
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights
  • Heating and trim options available
  • RRS Low Base version available for tighter rooflines

Cobra Misano: the premium pick

The Misano is Cobra’s flagship recliner and the seat people stop at longest when they visit the showroom. It comes as the Lux and the Anniversary builds, both through the Signature trim system, and despite being the largest seat here it is also the lightest of the Cobras at 11.5kg against the Daytona’s 13.5kg. The bolsters are deep but the cushioning is where the money went: the base and backrest foam is noticeably different from everything else in this guide and it is the thing people comment on first when they sit down. Goes on the Cobra subframe with 291mm runners, the same route as the Daytona, so if you are considering both it is worth knowing the frame cost is shared.

  • Misano Lux from £1549 inc VAT; Anniversary from £1649 inc VAT
  • 32 to 38 inch waists, all heights, 11.5kg, 885mm tall and 590mm wide
  • Signature trim, optional heating and lumbar
  • 4 point harness compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern: Cobra subframe only on this car

Getting it bolted down

Both subframes bolt to the Bravo’s factory seat mounting points, so there is no drilling on a standard floor. Between subframe and seat go the sliding runners, and they follow the same 291mm or 345mm logic as the frames. Both subframes are sold per side with RHD driver and passenger listed separately, so a pair means two in the basket. Torque the floor bolts properly before the first drive and check seat belt buckle clearance, because a sport seat typically moves the buckle somewhere new. One note on Corbeau runners: the millimetre figure in their product listing is the handle width, not the bolt pattern. The right option for the SVR and RRS is the Retro/Sportline handle width.

Common questions

Do I need to drill the floor of my Fiat Bravo?

No. Both subframes bolt to the factory seat mounting points on a standard Bravo floor. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance before driving, because a sport seat typically moves the buckle to a new position.

Can I put a Cobra seat on the Sparco subframe, or a Sparco seat on the Cobra one?

No. Cobra recliners use 291mm x 330mm and Sparco recliners use 345mm x 271mm, and the two do not line up. The Corbeau SVR and RRS are the exception, drilled for both patterns and compatible with either subframe on the Bravo.

Which years of Fiat Bravo does the Sparco subframe cover?

The Sparco subframe is listed for the Fiat Bravo from August 1995 to August 2001. If your car is outside that window, check with us before ordering. The Cobra subframe listing does not carry a year restriction in its current listing, but if you are at a production boundary it is worth confirming the build date before committing.

Why are both subframes sold per side rather than as a pair?

Both manufacturers price the subframe as a single unit covering one seat position. Driver and passenger sides are listed separately for the Sparco subframe. The Cobra subframe is listed as a single unit and we need to know which seat position it is going to when you order. A pair of seats means two subframes in the basket.

Would a fixed bucket seat be better for my Fiat Bravo?

If the car spends most of its time on track, yes. A fixed back saves weight compared to a recliner and holds you harder in the corners. A recliner wins when the Bravo is still a daily driver or carries passengers regularly, because the tilting backrest and fore-aft adjustment stay available. If you are weighing both options, get in touch and we can go through the seat and frame choices for this car.

What I would actually buy

If it were my money and the Bravo is a car I drive daily but also take on track evenings: the R100 on the Sparco subframe. It does most of the job for the least outlay, the frame comes off the shelf, and nothing about the combination needs revisiting later. If the car does more track than road I would move to the Daytona on the Cobra subframe, because the bolstering difference is real and the Signature trim means the interior can still look considered in a car I care about. The Corbeau SVR or RRS if I wanted both sides done in one order and did not want to lock into one bolt pattern before settling on a subframe. The Misano on the Cobra subframe if budget is not the constraint, because nobody who has sat in one ever argues it was the wrong call.

If you are between two of these seats, or anywhere near a waist or height boundary, call us on 0115 9893488 before you order. Cameron works through exactly this kind of fitment combination most days and would rather sort it before the seat ships than after.
