Audi A4 B7 bucket seat guide

Look at the nose. The B7 has the large trapezoidal single frame grille that runs down into the bumper, which is the styling Audi introduced across the range in 2005. The B6 has a smaller grille sitting above a separate lower air intake. The B7 was built 2006 to 2008 in the UK. It matters because the frames are different part numbers and will not swap, so if there is any doubt send us the registration and we will confirm it before anything ships.

The Planted SB093 at 185.50 pounds per seat, which is listed for the A4 and the S4 B7 built 2006 to 2008. It bolts to the factory seat mounting points in place of the standard runners, so a standard floor needs no drilling. It is priced per seat, so changing both front seats means ordering it twice.

Planted do not publish one for SB093. That is the honest answer and we would rather give it than repeat a guess. It matters because the seats on this page sit on three different patterns, from 291mm x 330mm to 345mm x 280mm. If you are pairing a base mount seat with this frame, send us both part numbers and we will get the pattern confirmed by Planted before you buy either. If you are using side mounts it does not apply.

Because the Endurance Motorsport sets are listed alongside the Sparco one. The plain steel M8 set is 29 pounds and the multi point version 39 pounds, both listed FIA approved and road and track, against 75 pounds for the Sparco set. The Sparco brackets carry their own FIA approval and their listing names OMP, Cobra and Sabelt shells as well as Sparco, so if you want the mounting hardware to match a specific shell they are still worth the difference. For most builds the Endurance sets do the job.

The Planted listing says the seat mounts to the frame either directly or on side mounts, so both routes are open. Four of the buckets here are listed for base mount as well as side mount: the Sparco Sprint, the Sparco Sprint L, the OMP TRS-X and the Cobra Monaco Pro. The other eight are side mount only and need a set of mounts, which on this car starts at 29 pounds.

The Sparco Sprint L is the widest bucket at 40in to 42in waist. Below that the Mirco RTS-2 3D covers 32in to 36in and 36in to 40in on the same listing, which makes it the most adaptable FIA shell here, and the OMP ARS-R covers 36in to 38in. Among the reclining seats all five Corbeaus cover 32in to 38in. On a car the size of an A4 there is usually room for the wider shell, so take the size up if you are between two.

Corbeau list several of theirs as two seats on one line, which is why the two Sportline RRB at 770 pounds, the two Sportline RRS at 830 pounds and the two SVR Vinyl at 850 pounds look dearer than the rest until you halve them. If you only want one seat, ask us first, because the single listings for some of these have been retired and we would need to check what is still available before taking an order.

Only if you add a runner. Side mounts on their own hold the seat in one place, which sits lower and suits a car one person drives. The Endurance sliding runner kit at 34 pounds is the cheap way to keep the adjustment on a base mounted seat, and the Cobra premium runners at 70 pounds are the better made option if you are putting a Cobra seat on top. Neither is FIA approved, so treat both as road and trackday parts.

No. There is no car specific belt for the B7, so you are fitting a universal harness and working out the mounting yourself. That is the part worth sorting first, and a saloon is better placed than most for it because there is real structure behind the rear seats. Not a bolt in half cage. SW Motorsports make theirs for the B8 only. Custom Cages list two weld in kits for the A4 from 2000 onwards, which take in the B7: a 6 point National spec CDS kit at 795 pounds and a multipoint T45 kit at 1395 pounds. Both are weld in and a workshop job. If you only need somewhere for the shoulder straps to bolt to, ask us, because a harness bar is sometimes an option where a full cage is not. Check the regulations for your class before ordering either, because eligibility varies by discipline and by year.

FIA means the belt passed a test to a written standard. Whether it suits your car is a separate question. The Schroth Profi 3×2 and the TRS Magnum Superlite are FIA 8853-2016 and the TRS Magnum 4 Point is FIA 8854-1998, and each carries a date that ends its competition life whether the belt has been worn or not, so you are buying a clock along with the harness. Buy FIA if your class requires it. For a fast road B7 a Takata or a TRS Clubman covers it for less, as long as you are not running a head restraint, because those four are listed as not HANS compatible.

Usually yes, and it is worth checking properly. The original buckle stays where it is while the seat around it moves, so once the seat is bolted down make sure you can reach the buckle one handed and that the shell is not fouling the stalk. Sort it while the trim is still out and it costs you two minutes instead of an evening.
