Split back, solid base
The backrest is in two sections so one half folds down; the base stays in one piece. That is the arrangement most cars with a load-through were built with.
Check the car rather than the specification sheet. A folding rear seat was optional on a great many models, and benches get changed over a long life.
The material against a folding back
Vinyl on the edges and bolsters with fabric through the centre panels. On a folding backrest that split earns itself twice over.
The vinyl edge is what meets the boot opening when the seat is down, and it is what takes the scrape of anything being slid through. Fabric in the middle is what stops the bench looking like a van interior when the seat is up.
Price
A two piece back costs the same as a solid one. A two piece base is what adds money, so order the split you actually have rather than the cheapest.
Lowest tier with vinyl and spacer fabric. Leather, alcantara and leather and alcantara cost more.
