Top 5 reclining seat choices for your Toyota Celica T200 [1994-1999], including our fitting guide

The T200 Celica never quite got the seat it deserved. Toyota got the chassis right for the money, a light FWD coupe that steers cleanly and carries speed through a corner well, but the standard seat lets you down every time. On a car now thirty years old, the foam has usually spent those thirty years compressing under people, and the side bolsters that looked adequate when the car was new are flat long before you put it anywhere interesting. Drop in a reclining sport seat on a Planted bracket and the whole thing changes character.

There is one fitting frame available for the non-GT4 Celica: the Planted Technology SB162 bracket. It mounts to the factory floor points with no drilling, accepts any seat in this guide through the appropriate runner, and is sold by side, so a pair of seats means two frames in the basket. The GT-Four and All-Trac models take a different floor arrangement and are not covered here.

  • One frame route in stock: Planted Technology bracket SB162
  • Non-GT4 and non-All-Trac models only
  • Bracket takes any seat pattern with the right runner
  • No drilling to the factory floor
  • Sold per side, RHD driver and passenger listed separately

The frame route into a Celica T200

The Planted Technology SB162 is the only vehicle-specific base mount we stock for this chassis. It attaches to the four factory floor studs in place of the standard runners and gives you a clean, stable platform that drops the seat height compared to the OEM setup. The flat base accepts any bolt pattern through the correct runner, which means the seat you choose is not constrained by the frame. Pick the seat first, then add the matching runner.

ANY

Planted bracket SB162

£222.60 inc VAT a side, sold individually. RHD driver and passenger versions listed separately. Accepts any seat in this guide via the matching runner set.

GT-Four and All-TracThis bracket does not fit the GT-Four or All-Trac. Those models have a different underbody brace arrangement that changes the floor geometry. If you have a GT-Four or All-Trac, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we will look at what is available for your car.

The number that decides it

Every reclining seat we sell mounts through a base bolt pattern, and there are three patterns across the five seats in this guide. The Sparco seats use 345mm x 271mm. The Cobra Daytona uses 291mm x 330mm. The Corbeau SVR and PSR are dual-drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, which means either Corbeau runner works. The Planted bracket accepts all three patterns with the right runner, so nothing in this guide is ruled out by the frame choice.

Pick the seat, then the runnerThe frame is the same for every combination. The bolt pattern stamped on the seat base tells you which runner to add. If you want a Corbeau and you already have 291mm runners from another car, they will work. If anything is not clear, ask before ordering.

Corbeau SVR Vinyl: the all-round pick, especially if headroom is tight

The SVR is the seat I point Celica owners at first. The profile is lower than most recliners, which matters in a T200 coupe because you do not have a lot of headroom to give away once the bracket drops the seat by the usual inch or so. The vinyl trim is easy to clean and holds up better than cloth on a car used on track or in all weather, and the dual-drill gives you a choice of runner. It is not the cheapest option in this guide, but it is the one that is easiest to live with and least likely to cause a problem with the roofline.

  • £1,020 inc VAT for a pair of two seats
  • Low-profile design: useful in a coupe with limited headroom
  • Vinyl trim, easy-clean
  • Dual-drilled for 291mm and 345mm patterns
  • Both Corbeau runner options work

Sparco R100: the value entry point

The R100 is the recliner we sell more of than any other, and on a budget it is the sensible starting point. The base is open and flat, so there is no leg bolster fighting you getting in and out of a two-door, and Sparco list it for all waist sizes and all heights. For a Celica that does mostly road use with the occasional track day, it does most of the job for the least outlay. The price above is for a pair of two seats. If you only need one, ask us and we can price accordingly.

  • £540 inc VAT for a pair of two seats
  • All waist sizes, over and under 6ft
  • Open flat base, easy entry and exit
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 345mm x 271mm pattern, Sparco 345mm runner

Cobra Daytona: the track pick

The Daytona has deeper shoulder and thigh bolsters than either Sparco, and on a car as responsive as the T200 that matters if track evenings are a regular thing. Your body stays put and you stop bracing yourself through the corners, which makes a real difference over a session. Cobra build it in the UK, which keeps lead times short, and it is available in cloth or vinyl. It is the heaviest seat in this guide at around 12.5kg, but on a car you are not trying to race it is not a meaningful difference. The 291mm pattern means Cobra sliding runners.

  • £599 inc VAT per seat
  • Deep bolsters at shoulder and thigh
  • Available cloth or vinyl
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 291mm x 330mm pattern, Cobra 291mm runner

Corbeau PSR: mid-range with both runner options

The PSR sits between the basic R100 and the firmer Daytona in feel. It has more shoulder support than the R100 without the aggressive tuck of a dedicated track seat, and the dual-drill means you pick the runner that suits you rather than being pushed one way by the pattern. On a Celica used road and occasional circuit, it is worth considering over the R100 if you want more lateral support but are not ready for a seat that grips hard on every corner. The pair price above covers two seats.

  • £558 inc VAT for a pair
  • More lateral support than the R100, less aggressive than the Daytona
  • Dual-drilled for 291mm and 345mm patterns
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • Works with Cobra 291mm or Sparco 345mm runners

Sparco R500 Sky: more seat, same Sparco shape

The R500 is the R100 with a taller backrest, more shoulder support, and dual-density foam in the base that holds its shape better on a longer run. The Sky vinyl is easy-clean and looks well on a car where the interior is showing its age. Pick it over the R100 if you want more upper body support and you are happy spending the extra. The pair price covers two seats, and the 345mm pattern means the same Sparco runner as the R100.

  • £686 inc VAT for a pair of two seats in Sky vinyl
  • Taller backrest with more shoulder support than the R100
  • Dual-density foam in base and backrest
  • Harness slots, listed 4 point compatible
  • 345mm x 271mm pattern, Sparco 345mm runner

Getting it bolted down

The Planted bracket bolts to the four factory floor studs with no drilling on a standard floor. Between the bracket and the seat go the sliding runners. The runner set you need depends on the seat you pick, not the frame, so the table below is your reference. Torque the floor bolts properly and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat often moves the buckle to a new position. The frame itself is listed per side with RHD driver and passenger versions, so two frames in the basket means two seats covered.

The T200 chassis covers the Celica from 1994 to 1999. If you have a 2000 or later Celica, that is the ZZT230 generation and this bracket does not apply. Check the production date on your registration document if you are not certain which generation you have.

Common questions

Do I need to drill the floor of my Celica?

Not on a standard floor. The Planted bracket bolts to the four factory studs in place of the original runners. Torque the bolts properly and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive.

Does this bracket fit the GT-Four or All-Trac?

No. The GT-Four and All-Trac models have a different underbody arrangement that changes the floor geometry. This bracket is for the non-GT4, non-All-Trac T200 only. If you have a GT-Four or All-Trac, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we will look at what is available.

Can I fit any of these seats on my own?

A competent DIY install is fine on a standard floor with the correct tools. Torque figures for the floor bolts are in the bracket instructions. If you are not confident with the install, any seat-fitting specialist can do it. We are not fitters, but we can point you in the right direction if you need a recommendation.

Will these seats take a 4 point harness?

Every seat in this guide is listed by its manufacturer as 4 point compatible with harness slots in the backrest. If you are running harnesses, let us know when you order and we will make sure the whole setup works together.

What is the difference between the Corbeau SVR and the Corbeau PSR?

The SVR has a lower profile, which is the reason it leads this guide on a car with a tight coupe roofline. Both are dual-drilled for 291mm and 345mm. The PSR has a more upright backrest shape. If you are between the two and headroom is not your concern, the PSR is the better road seat and the SVR is the better track seat.

What I would actually buy

If it were my money on a standard road T200: the R100 on the Planted bracket, because it does the job without overspending. If headroom is an issue, the SVR instead, and do not regret the extra. If the car does track evenings more than twice a year, the Cobra Daytona is worth it because you stop fighting the seat at speed.

All five combinations bolt straight to the factory floor of a non-GT4, non-All-Trac T200 with no drilling. If you are between two of these seats or not sure which runner to order for your combination, get in touch and we will sort it out before you spend anything.
