The Seat Leon Mk1 was built on the same platform as the Golf Mk4, but SEAT pushed the chassis harder than Volkswagen did with the equivalent Golf of that era. The 1.8 20VT in Cupra trim found a following in UK club motorsport early on, and those cars have been turning up at track days and hillclimb events ever since. The question that comes up in those circles is the seat. SEAT did not spend the money on it, and on a car now twenty-five years old the foam has usually done whatever it was going to do.
There is one frame route into the Leon Mk1: Sparco sub-frames that bolt to the factory floor points without drilling. They are base mount and set the final seat height. Three of the five seats in this guide take the Sparco frame directly on their 345mm pattern, and the two Corbeau seats are drilled for both patterns so they fit the same frame.

We stock one fitting frame for the Leon Mk1, from Sparco. A frame is the vehicle-specific base that replaces the standard runners, bolts to the Leon’s factory mounting points, and sets the final seat height. Part 00499075-1739, £86.68 inc VAT a side. Sold individually, with driver and passenger sides listed separately.
The sub-frame takes any 345mm x 271mm seat directly. The two Corbeau seats in this guide are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, so they go on the same Sparco frame without needing a different runner arrangement.
Part 00499075-1739, £86.68 inc VAT a side. Sold individually, RHD driver and passenger sides listed separately. Takes 345mm pattern seats and Corbeau dual-pattern seats directly. Bolts to the factory floor points without drilling.
Every reclining seat we sell bolts down through a base mount pattern. On the Leon Mk1, the Sparco sub-frame is built around 345mm x 271mm. Sparco recliners use that pattern, so they go on straight. The Corbeau PSR and RRS are drilled for both 291mm and 345mm, which means they fit the same frame without a different runner. Every seat in this guide goes on the Sparco sub-frame.
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Sparco sub-frame |
|---|---|---|
| Sparco R100 | 345 x 271 | Fits |
| Corbeau PSR | 291 or 345 | Fits |
| Sparco R500 Sky | 345 x 271 | Fits |
| Sparco R333 | 345 x 271 | Fits |
| Corbeau RRS | 291 or 345 | Fits |
The R100 is the recliner we sell more of than any other from the Sparco range. It is compact and the recline knob clears the door card, which matters in the Leon Mk1’s footwell. There is no leg bolster to fight when you get in and out of a two-door with a low roofline. Sparco list it for all waist sizes and all heights, which matches what we see: it is a hard seat to be the wrong shape for. Black and grey cloth, both seats in one pair.
The PSR is Corbeau’s entry recliner, generously cut in cloth trim. It is drilled for both 345mm and 291mm, so it goes on the Sparco sub-frame the same as the Sparco seats. Pick it over the R100 if you are at the larger end of the waist range, or if you have sat in Corbeau seats before and prefer the shoulder shape they use compared to Sparco. Sold as a pair, covers all sizes and heights.
The R500 is the R100’s taller sibling. It runs a taller backrest with dual density foam that holds its shape better over distance; the shoulder structure gives you noticeably more to lean into than the R100 does. It keeps the open base of the R100, so the driving position is similar: the extra structure is from the waist up, not around the thighs. The Sky vinyl is worth it if the car does any track use, because it wipes clean. Fabric version is also available at a similar price if you prefer cloth.
The R333 suits a 32 to 36 inch waist and drivers under six foot. That restriction is what makes it worth recommending: within that window it holds you more firmly through the bolsters than any of the other Sparco seats in this guide, without committing to a fixed bucket. On a Cupra doing regular track evenings you feel the difference mid-corner. Sold individually, driver and passenger are the same product.
The Corbeau RRS is the best reclining seat in this guide by support and finish. Black vinyl with white stitching, Corbeau’s sculpted backrest shape, with firm shoulder and thigh bolsters that hold you in a corner without the squeeze of a full bucket. It is drilled for both patterns, so it goes on the Sparco sub-frame the same as the PSR does. The price step over the R500 is significant, but it is also the closest thing in a reclining seat to what you feel in a fixed race seat. If you do serious track use and the budget stretches, this is where it goes.
The Sparco sub-frame is a base mount, so the runner sits between the frame and the seat and handles the adjustment. Both frame sides are listed individually, so a pair of seats means two frames in the basket. Torque the floor bolts properly and check seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat positions the buckle somewhere different from the original.
| Your seat | Runners to order |
|---|---|

| Corbeau PSR or RRS | Corbeau seat sliding runners, £58.80 a seat (Retro/Sportline option, 291mm handle) |
| Seat | Bolt pattern | Waist | Height | Price inc VAT |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sparco R100 | 345 x 271 | All sizes | All heights | £540.00 a pair |
| Corbeau PSR | 291 or 345 | All sizes | All heights | £558.00 a pair |
| Sparco R500 Sky | 345 x 271 | 32 to 38in | All heights | £685.99 a pair |
| Sparco R333 | 345 x 271 | 32 to 36in | Under 6ft | £449.47 per seat |
| Corbeau RRS | 291 or 345 | 32 to 38in | All heights | £984.00 a pair |

Not on a standard floor. The Sparco sub-frame bolts to the factory seat mounting points without modification. Torque the floor bolts to spec and check the seat belt buckle clearance before you drive, because a sport seat positions the buckle somewhere new.
A fixed bucket gives more lateral support for serious track use and saves weight, but you give up the recline and the seat stops being practical for longer trips. We have put Rev and QRT Pro buckets into Leon Mk1 Cupras before, and that guide covers those options if you want to compare the two routes before deciding. A lot of club racers run recliners year-round and never feel they are missing anything.
Every seat in this guide is listed by its manufacturer as 4 point compatible, with harness slots in the backrest. Let us know when you order if you are planning harnesses and we will make sure the whole setup works together.
It is the manufacturer's published fitment range. The R333 is cut narrower than the other Sparco seats, which is where the restriction comes from. If you are just over six foot, drop us an email or click to open a chat and we can go through it with your measurements before you order.
The Sparco sub-frame is listed per seat position, driver side and passenger side as separate listings. Fitting both seats means two frames in the basket. Part number 00499075-1739 covers both sides; the listing just identifies which position when you add one.
If the car does regular track work and you fit the R333’s size window, that is the one I would start with. It holds you more firmly than the R100 or the R500 without committing to a fixed bucket, and buying a pair costs less than any other seat in this guide except the R100. If you are outside that size range, the R100 is the easy call: fits everyone, easy to live with, leaves budget for the frame.
The PSR is worth a look if you have used Corbeau before and prefer their shoulder shape to Sparco’s. The RRS in white stitching is the seat that justifies the premium if you do serious track use and want something that feels right every time you get in the car. The R500 sits in between: more support than the R100, none of the R333’s size restriction, and a price that makes sense for a car that does both road and circuit.
Every combination in this guide bolts to the factory floor points on a standard Leon Mk1 without modification. If you are between two options or need to check sizing before ordering, call us on 0115 9893488 and we will work it out.
