The Sparco QRT-R Gaming Seat Arrives In-Store
In the showroom, May 2025
The Sparco QRT-R gaming seat is in our showroom for the first time, and it looks even better in person. Up close it looks and feels like a real motorsport seat, because it is built on one: Sparco's QRT-R competition shell.
The difference is the rating. This version is made for sim rigs, with a gaming and sim racing rating in place of FIA homologation, which is how it comes in at a much lower price than the competition seat. If you are building a rig and want the shape, support and feel of a real race seat, this is one to sit in.
- The Sparco QRT-R shell in sim racing specification, part number 008012GNR
- Rated for gaming and sim racing, not FIA homologated
- Fibreglass shell made with Sparco's QRT process
- Velour trim, six point harness slots, no head wings
- Side mount on four M8 points, 290mm apart
- Sparco's drawing: 560mm at the shoulders, 490mm at the base, 940mm tall

About the Sparco QRT-R gaming seat
The shell is fibreglass made with Sparco's QRT process, which Sparco quote at around 30 per cent lighter than their standard fibreglass while staying stiff and strong. That stiffness is useful on a rig, where a flexing seat takes away from the feel.
- QRT fibreglass shell, fixed back
- Rated for gaming and sim racing, not FIA homologated
- Side mounted on four M8 fixing points
- Six point harness slots
- Velour trim, which grips and stays comfortable over a long session
- The same shell shape as the FIA QRT-R
Sparco list it for all heights and a 32 to 36 inch waist.

What it is for
This seat is for sim rigs. Its rating is for gaming and sim racing, so it is not a seat for a car that will be scrutineered, and it does not carry a road and track rating either. If you want the QRT-R in a car, ask us for the homologated version, or tell us how the car is used and we will point you at the right seat.
On a rig, it gives the realism of a proper race seat: the same side and leg support, the same driving position and the same harness slots, so you can run a harness on the rig and feel held in the way you would on track.
Dimensions and fit
It shares its dimensions with the FIA QRT-R:
- 560mm across the shoulders
- 490mm across the base
- 670mm up to the harness slots; your shoulders should sit at or below this for the best fit
- 940mm tall overall
- Side mount holes 290mm apart, 630mm deep
Check the width of your rig's frame and seat rails before you order. The seat comes on its own, with no brackets. If you are not sure, send us the rig's rail spacing and we will confirm it.

Why Sparco for a sim seat
Sparco have made competition seats for decades, and their sim racing seats are built on the same shells as their race seats. When you sit in one, you get the same build quality, materials and shape as the competition version, which is what makes a rig feel like a real cockpit.
Sparco use the same QRT technology across their FIA seats and this sim range, so the difference is in the rating, not the construction method.
The rest of our Sparco sim seat range
The QRT-R is one of several Sparco sim seats we list, each on a different competition shell:
- Grid Q QRT: compact, a good choice for narrow rigs
- Rev QRT: a snug, light shell for slimmer drivers
- Evo L and Evo XL QRT: wider shells for bigger drivers
- Pro ADV QRT: the one with head wings, which help if you run strong force feedback and a tight belt
Garreth’s advice is to come and sit in the QRT-R and the others side by side, since shell shape is personal. Our guide to which seat fits your sim rig goes through fitting by rig brand.
Is the Sparco QRT-R gaming seat FIA approved?
No. It is rated for gaming and sim racing; the FIA QRT-R is a separate seat.
Can I fit the QRT-R gaming seat in a car?
It is made for sim rigs, so for a car ask us for the homologated QRT-R or a road and track seat.

How does the QRT-R mount?
