A TRS six-point harness cut for Caterham’s cabin geometry. Part number MH560-300. Road and track approved. Six-point layout with sub strap. 3-inch (75mm) shoulder straps, 2-inch (50mm) lap and sub. Aircraft rotary buckle. Bolt-in installation. Eight colour choices.
The defining feature is the shoulder strap length. Caterham’s roll hoop sits close to the driver’s head, which means a standard-length TRS shoulder strap wraps too far around the bar and sits at the wrong angle. TRS cuts the shoulder straps shorter on the Caterham version so they route correctly around the bar and sit at the geometry the shoulder-to-back line requires. The eyebolts supplied with the harness are specified for that shorter run.
Road and track approved, not FIA homologated. The attributes show Not HANS Compatible, which reflects that most Caterham club use does not require HANS integration at a non-FIA event. If your class regulations change to require FIA harnesses, this version will not satisfy them; discuss with us and check the current FIA-rated option for the car.
If you are fitting this to an older Caterham (pre-2005 Seven or early build dates), check the roll hoop dimensions match the car the strap length was designed for before installing. The strap routing should sit correctly across the top of the hoop with a clean line down to the anchor point.
Have you written anything useful for my car?
Yes: Our Definitive Guide to Caterham and Westfield Harness Belts, and Choosing The Perfect Bucket Seats For Your Westfield And Caterham Kit Cars. Those are written around the same car, from real fittings and customer questions, so they are worth a look before you decide.
Is this harness legal for competition?
This one carries Road and Track rather than current FIA homologation, so check your championship regulations before buying it for competition. For road and track day use, that is not a problem. Ask us if you are unsure which your events require.
What does the strap width mean for me?
This is a 3 inch shoulder to 2 inch lap harness. The shoulder width choice interacts with whether you run a HANS device, and our guide on 3 inch versus 2 inch harnesses explains which to pick and why.
Do I need a HANS-specific harness?
No. Only 6-point FIA harnesses work with a HANS device: not 4-point belts, and not road harnesses, however good they are at their own job. This 6-point road and track belt is for use without a head and neck device; if you run or plan a HANS, look at the 6-point FIA HANS-pattern belts in the range and we will spec the right one.
What does it mount to?
A harness needs proper anchor points: a harness bar, cage, or the car’s designed mounting points, plus a seat with the right slots, and as a 6-point it needs each point anchored correctly. Tell us the car and seat and we will confirm the mounting plan before you order.
