The C1 is the one Tillett seat in this range with side impact head support, and that is the whole reason it exists. It is based on the B6 Screamer, so the body of the seat is a known quantity, but the head area is a different proposition entirely. Nothing else in the B range gives you wings.
It is homologated to FIA 8855-1999 for track use, and both the cut and uncut shells are homologated, so trimming the edges down does not cost you the approval.
Weight is 7.1kg for the bare shell, or 8.1kg once you add the padded cushions. That is heavier than anything else here, and it should be. You are carrying the head support structure. If you want FIA approval at a low weight and you do not need the wings, the B6 Screamer at around 6kg or the B7 at 3.8kg are the seats to compare it against.
Widths run 41cm, 44cm as standard, and 47cm on the XL shell only. The 41cm is for a genuinely restricted cockpit. The standard shell suits drivers up to 100kg and a 36 inch waist, with the XL made for drivers over 100kg and above a 36 inch waist.
It sits you lower than the B range and gives more legroom, and it works without lower padding, which matters in an open car or anywhere that gets wet.
Available with a carbon fibre shell or in GRP. Side mounted, HANS compatible, six point harness compatible, seat only. Part number C1-4.
Will I fit in this seat?
The maker sizes this seat for drivers with a 32in to 36in waist. Those are the paper numbers; how a seat actually feels to sit in and climb out of is a different question, and our showroom team sit in these seats every day, so call us with your height and waist and we will give you the honest answer.
Is it FIA approved, and for how long?
Yes, it carries FIA 8855-1999 homologation. Every FIA seat has a not-valid-after year printed on its homologation label, and that label date is what a scrutineer checks, so look at the label on the seat you receive and check it against your championship regulations. Buying new means you get the freshest label the maker currently produces.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This is a side-mount seat: it hangs between side brackets, the motorsport-style stack with fine height and angle control. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
Tillett seats are custom-made to order
These carbon seats are handcrafted in the UK for each order. We do not stock or display them in the showroom, so everything is a special order placed with Tillett when you buy.
Lead times depend on the model and the options you choose, so ring us before ordering if you are working to a date.
Special order
Because each seat is made for you, our special order terms apply once production has begun.
Tell us your height, weight and the car, and we will confirm the right size and mounting before anything is made. Tillett sizing is specific and worth getting right first time.
