The Tillett B6 XL is the wider, non-homologated version of the B6 shell in carbon and GRP. Road and Track approved. No FIA 8855-1999. If the regulations you run under do not require a homologated seat, it costs considerably less than the Screamer version and gives you the same interior dimensions.
Shell is carbon and GRP, SKU B6XL-43C/GRPBM. Width is 43 cm with rolled edges cut off and 47 cm with them on. Tillett list the driver waist size range as 36 to 40 inches for the XL shell, which is wider inside than the standard B6. Weight falls within the 4.5 to 5.1 kg band that Tillett quote for the B6 carbon range, with up to 10 per cent variation between builds.
One practical difference from the Screamer XL: this seat can be base-mounted or side-mounted. The Screamer XL is side mount only. If your car runs a lap adapter to the floor rather than a fitting frame with side mount bolt positions, the B6 XL is the option that works.
The seat takes a 6-point harness and has an integrated headrest. Seat cover options include headrest cushion only or a full headrest, back and cushion panel set in Dinamica faux suede.
If you need FIA 8855-1999, the B6 Screamer XL is the seat. If you do not, or if you specifically need the base mount option, this is the one to order.
Have you written anything about this exact product?
Yes, we have covered this exact product: Tillett B6 XL Screamer Seat Unboxed In-Store. That is first-hand coverage from our own builds and showroom, not brochure copy.
Will I fit in this seat?
This is the XL version of the shell, cut wider than the standard seat. Tillett do not publish per-model driver limits for the XL shells, so rather than guess, send us your height and waist and we will confirm against the actual seat.
Is this seat FIA approved?
No, this is a road and track day seat rather than a homologated competition seat. For events that require an FIA seat, look at the FIA-approved shells in the range, and ask us if you are unsure what your series needs.
What do I need to fit it to my car?
This seat takes both base and side mounting, so the fitting stack depends on which route you pick for your car. You will need the car-specific frame, and a sliding runner if you want fore-and-aft adjustment. Our guide on base mount versus side mount walks through the whole stack, and tell us your car and we will quote the full kit.
Does it work with harnesses and a HANS device?
The shell takes 6 point compatible. If you are planning the full seat, harness, and HANS setup, tell us the car and we will spec it end to end.
How do I know it will feel right, not just fit on paper?
Fair question, because makers publish widths and weights, never feel, and two seats with identical numbers can feel nothing alike in the car. We keep the ranges on display in the Nottingham showroom, you are welcome to come and sit in them, and if you cannot get to us, call and describe your build, as the team sit in these seats every day. Our head support measurements guide shows the kind of real-world data we collect.
Tillett seats are custom-made to order
These carbon seats are handcrafted in the UK for each order. We do not stock or display them in the showroom, so everything is a special order placed with Tillett when you buy.
Lead times depend on the model and the options you choose, so ring us before ordering if you are working to a date.
