Low or tall: which 350Z driver bracket
Planted make two driver brackets for the 350Z and they are the same price, so the only thing to decide is how high you want to sit. In Planted’s own words this one, the LOW bracket, “is made to put the seat as low as possible without modifying the floor”.
The alternative is the Planted Nissan 350z Tall Bracket, which Planted describe as made to more closely match the height of the standard passenger brackets, and which sits about an inch higher than this one.
So the rule of thumb is simple enough: take the low bracket if you are tall, if you wear a helmet in the car, or if it is a track car and headroom is what you are short of. Take the tall bracket if it is a road car and you would rather sit level with whoever is next to you.
The two sides of the car do not take the same bracket turned over, and Planted list four parts for a 350Z: two heights for one side, and two more for the other side that differ by gearbox, because the transmission tunnel is not the same shape in the automatic as it is in the six speed.
Worth knowing before you order anywhere: Planted are American, so their “driver’s side” means the LEFT of the car. On a right hand drive 350Z your driver sits on the right, which is the side their naming calls the passenger side. Tell us the car is right hand drive, tell us the gearbox, and tell us which seat you are doing, and we will confirm the right part before anything is ordered.
One more option worth seeing on this page: the slide subframe choice adds £32.00 and includes a Sparco slider, which is £41.94 bought on its own. If you want the seat to move once it is in, that is the cheapest way to do it.
